Android tablets hot on iPad heels

It was bound to happen, but it is still one tablet vs many. I am not really fond of how my iPad worked but they must be doing something right to be so far of the competition in sale terms.

Ok I'll wait for all those Android tablet manufacturers to announce their record-breaking quarterly figures then.

Apple sold 15,43 million iPads in Q1 and I guess that would make up the 58% of the 26,8 million tablets sold. The 42% remainder would include the Kindle Fire which is selling pretty well and just about every other tablet ever... I think Tim Cook said it best when he said Apple would worry about competition for the iPad when there was competition.

Strategy Analytics said Microsoft had a 1 percent share of the global tablet market last quarter.

This is what happens when MS can't use anti competitive tactics to keep market share.

Sweet and? You happy?

Yeah, it's awesome! Plays HD video flawlessly. I just added a 32 Gb micro SD card.

The battery could be better, but it's not too bad in terms of lasting a day or two.,

But for this price what is there to complain about?

I'm just waiting for a nice Ice Cream Sandwich compatible firmware, and then I'll update to that.

If I can use the phones as an indicator Androids numbers only really came into play in 2010 that is almost 3 years after the 1st iPhone so I would say look at the numbers again at the end of 2013.

Till then I am not even going to bother going iPad vs Android tablets in the numbers game.

No it's what happens when they don't have a tablet-focused OS and strategy. We'll see what happens with Windows 8, no predictions yet.

Agreed, I just have a fear that Windows 8 on tablet is not going to be what everyone thinks ie: full windows desktop experience on an ARM platform. They already talking about dropping full desktop and only supporting Metro applications.

Or you could just look at it as a real world comparison in the present.

I'm expecting Win8 on tablets to do a lot better than Windows phone 7 is doing now.
Their tablet strategy previously was "just install desktop windows on the tablet" which is a bit different from not having any strategy at all. Remember Win7 supports touch as well.
They just expected the Wintel dominance to continue on tablets, despite the power requirements of the typical x86 chip being poorly suited to a mobile device, and the Win7 UI being more suited to mouse + keyboard.

This true?

That would be one hell of a screen to be able to do that. Apple has been struggling to produce a Retina Display for the iPad. But a R1000 tablet from China has managed to do it....????

Each Android OEM in its own should be selling in the order of what Apple is selling to be called a competitor. One device against many ... and still Apple is doing well. One cannot argue against such success. Apple is very good at what they are doing. (Read "Inside Apple" by Adam Lashinsky).

Andoid as a whole should be outselling Apple by three to one on phones and tablets. Apple is not worried. They print their own money. They don't care about sales figures ... they care about profit. They have enough money to break many of their competitors.

Respect must be given where earned.

Correct. There is no competition.
