Android tops Blackberry in US

Google's Android has surged past Blackberry maker Research in Motion to become the leading smartphone platform in the United States, market tracking firm comScore said Monday.

Android will become the leading platform this year! I don't know how people could get excited over apple's software! It's so boring! I have an ipod touch for gym - but the iPhone looks the same! Boring :0

+1

I'm loving Android. I'm very excited for what is still to come!

iOS rocks, am loving it. Waiting to try the HTC Desire HD and will rate Android after that.

They are working on the standardization of the look. That was part of the reason they are doing it.

Very excited.....people are opening their eyes:-)

I agree, Android is taking over.. But ios is still very good, its very simple but has far too many restrictions.. Its pretty cool once jailbroken but people shouldn't have to resort that that just to get the most out of it..

iOS = one manufacturer
BlackBerry OS = one manufacturer
Android = many manufacturers

Anyone surprised that Android is on more devices sold? Android should be tops in volume. That does not automatically translate to tops in quality. It may not even translate to tops on wishlists (what one can get/afford is different from what one desires).

Android is the best OS ive used so far...compared to any other phone OS its leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. Just wish the Apple fanboys could see that.

What i really don't get is why RIM is so popular in SA

Appropriate solution for South African realities. Why it is also doing well in places like India, Middle- and Far East. Affordable smartphone solution for the masses who are heavy users of social networks. Easy to use, very reliable, hard to break, does the everyday communications priorities very well.

With iOS and BlackBerry OS life is simple. iOS 4.2 will on 11 March be updated to iOS 4.3 ... simple. All Apple phone and tablet owners (excl. older non-supported devices) can see forward to this one well known event and all knows what is involved and what needs to be done. With Android it is a frikkin mess that requires geek skills/knowledge. Motorola ... Samsung ... HTC ... LG ... all dealing with things like updates in their own way on their own time (and quite possibly never for your specific device). One must be in the know to know what's going on. With Apple the owner/user just goes with the flow = what most want. Don't be surprised to see many jumping to Android now - mostly out of curiosity - return to iOS and BlackBerry ... and if/when Apple releases the much talked about and highly anticipated (more affordable) iPhone "Nano" the game will change completely ... as it did with iPhone and iPad.

All Blackberry has to do is release BBM for Android and Apple App store... and it's Game Over!

I think most Apple fans will agree, Android is a great OS. It does a good job on surfing the web, and it's great competition for Apple.

Apple and Android are way ahead of the pack, technically. Well, except WebOS, which deserves to do better.
