Hi Guys,

Seeing as I have a google home mini unopened yet, I'm looking to get a compatible android based device that i can control with the mini, things like Netflix / Spotify and maybe even the built in media player (volume, pause, play) etc

The one reason why I haven't just bought a Chromecast yet is the reliance of linked devices to the Chromecast, the little one doesn't have a phone or tablet to link to it in the event she wants to watch a movie or something.Perhaps I'm being daft on this but it seems like every review says it needs a phone or something linked?

Looking at Skyworth Binge Android TV Box, its appealing because it can take USB devices and act independently without linked devices.
I cant really afford the Mi Box at this stage so that's out of the question
Esquire has the Chromecast for R799 at the moment, whereas the Skyworth is R899 if I'm not mistaken,so something in that price bracket

Any help/suggestions/advice appreciated

Thank you

My Litbox comes with Google Assistant built in. Can be controlled via voice remote. Or via my cell.
I say Ok, Google, play BlahBlah on Spotify and it does just that.

If you have a Telkom account or open one, you can pay over 2 years (interest free) which comes down to R45 a month which is super affordable.

Not looking for any Telkom accounts but it sounds good.
Think I can buy that cash at a store?

We use a xiaomi mi box.
Supports DSTV, Netflix from the Google Play Store and voice

I use my home mini with my lit box. It saves me from pressing the google button on the remote :)

Don't want to derail here, but I've tried to connect my Google Mini with the LIT box - it sees it but won't connect. Do I need a particular version of the LIT box?

Yes they do cash as well.R1190 last time I checked.
They do prefer selling to accounts holders though... they gave me stock which was kept for a cash customer. :)

I have a mobile contract "upgrade" im eligible for, was thinking maybe downgrade that to a 5GB p/m package and possibly get the lit box, but no information available on the net from what I can see.I suppose I have to go in store and see whats on offer then

When I connected the home mini to my network it picked up the or box and asked if it should connect to it. Not sure about the version I have though.

Personal opinion is to stay away from any Android TV not Netflix approved ... so the Skyworth.

New what?
Pretty much the same hardware spec as other Android boxes out... So don't expect anything different to what is already available.

The main difference is its off-the-shelf and not tied to an operator who may not have stock all time and people are battling to get it.

Manufactured and imported by the same guys.

SDMC are (wait for it) massive when it comes to Android boxes and are probably the top 3 in the world. They make for everyone - but they often white label
