Android Useful Apps

Oh, and I find this app rather useful:

Gravity Screen Off

Basically, it negates you having to continually press the power button to turn on/off your screen. Can set it to switch off when it is placed into your pocket, onto a table, etc.

Can anyone recommend an app for sales/ordering? I've searched online quite a bit and in the play store. Most of the ones I've found will only work with a company network/system. Either that, or they just won't work at all.

I want a stand alone app that I can load all my products and customers onto, generate a sales order to email to my office and will keep a history of each customer's orders.

Any recommendations will be much appreciated.

Thanks
Deon

I just searched for 'point of sale' in the Play Store and got quite a few interesting results.

Ja, found those but kind of ignored them initially as POS systems tend to be aimed at shops, restaurants etc selling goods to walk-in customers.

I've just found an app called Street Invoice which seems to be what I'm looking for. It allows me to upload all my products & customers (although I have to mail it all to them on an excel sheet). Will see how it works.

Found one other app over the weekend that allowed direct import of products but it never seemed to work and they didn't respond to my query.

We are in process of doing an app that does exactly that a standalone invoice generator, also the ability to link to our other products. Mobi.Timekeeper & Mobi.Jobcard

Only one small catch, its for Windows 8/RT & Windows Phone. If you want I can keep you updated on progress.

I just thought I'd report on my experience with Street Invoice thus far.

As I said, I couldn't import customer and product data myself, which was an initial concern. I mailed them the two excel sheets (templates downloaded from their website) and in both instances I got an email confirming that they were loaded within 24 hours. All that's then required is to open the app and hit sync.

I haven't used it too much yet, but it seems to work really well. On the item list they even allow for several different prices for each item. This is great seeing as we supply different customers and wholesalers at different price levels.

Also great is that the app allows instant search, while typing. Makes it really easy to insert a new customer or find one item in a list of 100s.

There's also a pc based version which obviously syncs with all the data as well. Not the smoothest or fastest program, but it is handy having everything that's on the tab, including estimates and invoices created, available on my laptop.

By far the most impressive thing is the great support. Every time I've mailed them, I've received a response late afternoon, which means it's pretty early in the day where they are based in the US.

Find it here http://web.beontrac.com/

That's not a 'small catch' but a rather big one. Thanks, but I don't intend switching from Android in the near future.

I've always installed apps from Google Play via Chrome. Tonight when I click on install nothing happens. Works on IE10.

Any ideas?

Cleared cache....sorted.

SwiftKey

I know it's already mentioned in the beginning of the thread, but by chance anybody missed it, this is a great keyboard. I've been using it for a year now and will never go back. It's especially useful for Afrikaans people, as it has an Afrikaans dictionary and you can enable Afrikaans and English at the same time :) So typing Afrikaans sentences with English words in is just a breeze!

OK so I'm just loving swiftkey! Finally made the switch.

Does anyone know whether it is possible to make Poweramp rewind and fast forward in much slower jumps? I am listening to french audio files, and need it to be slower in order to relisten to phrases that have just been spoken...

Maybe rather use an audio book player like MortPlayer which is the one I use and like - but there are others in the store

(in mortplayer you can set the number of seconds in a jump)

According to Swiftkey:

  • I've "flowed" 190.06 meters
  • I've saved 50 089 keystrokes thanks to Swiftkey
  • Swiftkey has corrected 14 278 of my typos
  • Swiftkey has predicted 547 of my next words
  • Swiftkey has completed or corrected 8 513 of my typed words
Anyone got their own stats to share?
:D
