Looks so sexy - wish it was not a fail for me...
1. No ability to use an internet radio stream for alarm (as far as I can see).
2. No way to tell it to ONLY play audio via bluetooth when connected. By default it would play via bluetooth and phone speaker (yuck).

If I am overlooking something please would someone enlighten me. This app is so good looking I WANT to use it.

So, Google having bought, and made fully free, Timely, one wonders what's going to happen (in terms of the app and GOOG's response) now that Yahoo! has gobbled up Aviate. From the Aviate blog:
It’s been quite the past few months for Aviate. Since launching the product last fall, we’ve been amazed and encouraged by the incredibly positive response we’ve seen from the Android community. Today, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that Aviate is being acquired by Yahoo. Don’t worry, Aviate isn’t going anywhere.

We founded Aviate with a mission to make our phones smarter and organize themselves around us, instead of vice versa. In short, make our phones simpler. We’re thrilled you love the product and want you to know that we are committed to continued innovation of Aviate. The technology and product will remain the same — it’s simply going to get better, faster.

When we met with Yahoo, it was obvious how aligned our visions are. Yahoo, like us, is all about simplifying and streamlining users’ daily habits through intelligent and beautiful products. We see endless opportunities for how the two of us can work together. We can’t wait to take this next step.

Thanks for all your support, excitement, and faith in our product. We could never have made it to this place without you, and can’t wait to continue to simplify your lives. If you haven’t had a chance to try Aviate, for a short time we’re offering the code “YAHOO” as a way to celebrate this announcement.

Here’s a link to Yahoo’s post and Marissa’s CES keynote announcing the deal, in case you’re interested.

Stick around, Aviate’s just getting started.

Thanks,
Mark, Paul, and Will
More to the (time limited) point though, the fleet of foot may be able to get in on the action:
Aviate is still currently in private beta, but we’re opening it up to the first 25,000 people who use code “YAHOO” to celebrate the news.

For streaming to DLNA / UPnP devices = Twonky Beam

I found Twonky to be the most unreliable service of any app I'd ever used. I hated it. Went back to BubbleUPNP very quickly. I even gave it a second chance on a different ROM and it failed dismally. Emailed the app developers - got no response...

Now that I have seen the ratings for each, looks like BubbleUPNP gets the nod. Do like the interface of Twonky, however.

The supposed added benefit of Twonky is the ability to stream a YouTube/video clip from your phone's internet to a UPnP source, but that worked for me once, barely, and then never again. Using XBMC and Yatse full version, I now simply opt to send the file to whichever media centre I'm near and let the media centre open it, which is more efficient than trying to stream it from the phone's internet connection. BubbleUPnP works flawlessly in my experience to stream local content to and from Android devices and UPnP sources...

I use Twonky when traveling in the car with the family. Everyone hooks up to the MiFi and streams to their tablets/cellphones off my phone.
As soon as we get Play Store vouchers, I will purchase Plex for each family member and Twonky can die.

Also waiting for vouchers or a gift system. Steam's one works really well. With iTunes vouchers/gift cards in just about every store Google is getting left behind

For the Linux guys, there is now an alternative to Pushbullet: LinConnect.

Couple this with the Recent Notifications indicator, and you now have a notification history of your device's notifications, on your PC.

This article does a good job explaining the setup. Please note that it is still an alpha build, but worked well in my use of it yesterday.

There doesn't seem to be an app that can remotely turn on the gps on my phone... I normally leave it off to save battery so if I lose my phone I won't be able to track it, anyone know of an app that can remotely turn on gps on an unrooted phone?

Yes, you will require a combination of things.

Firstly, root
Once done you will need secure settings, its required to toggle things like GPS as android locks this to the system.
You can thin look into automation apps like tasker, with sms trigger plugins, using this you can sms the phone which in turn will trigger a config and turn on your GPS.

As far as i know it can only be done on a rooted phone. Even Tasker cannot control GPS unless rooted

No way for this to be achieved without root?
