Android Useful Apps

How big is your screen? Mine is 5.5" and I wouldn't want to lose additional screen space to my keyboard. You don't have to hold down for '?', '!' etc. in Swype - just drag the symbol to the spacebar. It's a very quick movement. Don't forget Swype also has other awesome gestures, used for selecting text, copying, pasting, changing capitalisation for a word after it's been entered etc.

Ah, that'll work. Tried it now, and seems to work well enough. I just need that number row now... OK, I'll give it a couple of days and see how it works out for me... being really open minded here

I think Swype is quite good and lots of people have said its the quickest, with the gestures I think it probably is but I am using an Android L 123 keyboard and the drag typing is amazingly smooth and accurate, good for 1 hand and a big screen.

Tried swift but long ago, did not suit me. Got frustrated at the autocomplete and typing in web / email addresses. Also using the suggested words, just lost time.
Went back to swype, use it as a Swype keyboard as intended.
It is really your choice.

Been using Swype now for two days, and I must be honest, giving it a real chance, and I really do like it so far... how long does the trail version last?

Kii Keyboard is still my preferred choice. So customisable and feather light on resources. I never see a tinge of lag.

Yep, I use it for big/bulk transfers... And I use Pushbullet for single file small transfers.

Love how I can be browsing a website, find a funny pitcher and just right click and pushbullet it to my phone for sharing to whatsapp.

If you spend a lot of time on the computer and and find it frustrating to have to fiddle with your phone every time you get a WhatsApp message then you need WhatsRemote. WhatsRemote is a root only app that gives you a lovely web interface on which you can view and reply to your WhatsApp messages. The cons are that you can't mute groups like I have done on my phone, you can't view media and it costs about $1 for 6 months (seriously cheap). You can also try it for 3 days for free. Otherwise it's really intuitive and much nicer to be able to reply from your web browser.

Its brilliant and the notifications are handy. Articles, random pics, etc are so easy to send to phone to share to whatsapp

Anybody know of an app that does text to speech? I know apps like Google books utilizes Google TTS to read, but I'm looking for a straight forward app that you enter text and it reads aloud, pref also using the Google TTS engine.
I've googled a bit but most does screen reads, and app integration using TTS is not that widespread yet, apart from Google products like translate. But I don't want translated speech.
