So in preparation for this morning, last night, I downloaded the South African offline map. Was about 350MB iirc.

Right, so I think I did a good test of HERE this morning, driving into work. This is how it went....

1. Get in car.
2. Start driving.
3. Remember to start HERE.
4. Start HERE.
5. Drive for about 1km
6. Switch off mobile data to see if navigation continues.
7. Navigation continues
8. Click on traffic updates, obviously it moans about no internet connection, still have the updates it got when I started the route in the first place.
9. Decide to take a detour to see how it handles that (with mobile data still off)
10. Without a glitch. Not even a 'recalculating screen'. Worked out the new route in the blink of an eye.
11. Halfway there I switch on mobile data, no effect to ongoing navigation, which is good.
12. Switch off voice navigation, with the HQ voice (which is about a 50-60MB download) it is not robotty at all. Very nice.
13. Switch on my audio book to play in the back ground, navigate from and to without an issue.

To be honest I'm very impressed with this app. It has the feel of a premium paid for app. I honestly like this. Will make this my default navigation app for now, and see how it goes.

Thanks for the link guys. Downloaded it from Galaxy App Store. Then downloaded the SA map. Used it this morning to work in offline mode. Works great! If you're online while navigating you get traffic updates.

Google Maps FTW Fanie :p

But I guess the fact that this can navigate offline, is a major plus.

Look, I'm also a huge Google Maps fan. But I'm honestly impressed with this app so far. I didn't give it much of a chance when I first heard about it.

cool, will use it this weekend on my way to the kruger, since I think my signal might be a bit iffy for gmaps
does it have camera locations?

Thanks for the review Fanie. Will give it a try as well. Other free nav apps haven't really worked well.

I have installed Do not disturb.
You can turn off notifications for a set period, or use a schedule.
Seems to have some clever options with exceptions for repeat phone calls within 5 minutes etc.
