Hey Imranpanji, I see you are from Malawi, do you maybe know Nissar All or Mandeep Sidhu? Old friends of mine when I lived there?

Yeah, if you know Malawi....you know everyone knows everyone. I have lost track of loads of people. My folks were tight with Mandeeps parents.

However I used the excellent LinkedIn android app ;) , and it seems Nissar is running a lodge in monkey bay. Impressed by the app

Dropped ios to come into the fold of the little green man. Loved activator on ios to do everything with swipes finally found GMD gesture control that does pretty much the same thing on android. Now can start the multitasking screen, jump to the home screen and switch between 2 apps with a swipe, bliss!

I was having some sensor issues with the phone's compass with here.

mine just said something like "swing phone around in a figure 8 until it vibrates" so i did, perfect.

Yea mine told me that as well but it was not working (we were driving sideways the whole time).
Used the sensor button in the "secret menu" and 100% accurate now.

Used the Here gps app on my trip to the kruger this weekend. It works well and a few things that stand out is that it had all the new Street names, showed the road speed limit and your current speed, (was fairly accurate in terms of the speed limits), 3d buildings are cool, nice to be able to use the maps offline especially on long trips where you may not have constant connection.

Used Google maps on the way there and used Here on the way back. Gmaps with data usage, used 100% battery about 5 mins away from the destination. Total travel time was about 4,5 hours. Here with data also activated, had about 30% battery left, I'm sure it would be much more if I turned off data completely. Travel time was about 4 hr 10 mins.

Still have to test out the traffic info.

Nice review. I have not tried it yet, but will once there is an opportunity.

Thanks I actually forgot about the app and was upset when I realised about halfway there after using Gmaps, then thought it would make a nice comparison to use Here on the way back. ;)

I see the HERE app from Nokia has launched a beta in the Samsung Galaxy App store.

Downloaded it, and it's kinda pretty. Will give a go tomorrow morning on my way to work :)
This seems to be only available for newer phones. Not available for Note n7000 nor Note n8000. I was quite keen to try it as Sygic let me down quite badly earlier this month with the roadworks in Pretoria.

Just side-load it?

Not marked on play as beta, and Googles got rules for running betas on the site, you need to be part of the google community and opt-in first.

Myscript Stylus (I mentioned it a bit earlier in this thread) is still beta and I didn't have to do anything out of the ordinary to download it. In fact I'm writing my response using it ;)
