Anger over Satanism lesson

And if you are a satanist, you know you don't follow a religion. But you might want it as a topic because your underlying aim is to subvert those who follow God.

That's called evangelism. Many religions (Especially Christianity and Islam) do it.

I didn't define what religion is and try and force that on anyone.

And now there is a danger of this thread now really needing to belong in one of the off topic sub-areas. It started off as a discussion about outrage about satanism being discussed in schools. And some people are perfectly justified in their outrage because it goes against everything that they know to be right. If you think that it is just a philosophical issue then you are either agnostic or atheist, in which case it really doesn't matter to you if it isn't covered - it has no meaning at all.

So if Christians are outraged about something then Atheist are not allowed to join in on the discussion and give their point of views? I mean what good is it going to do for all the christians posting in this topic about how angry they are at this school and what what what. If no non-theist members contribute to such a thread you might just begin to think that you are right and start an annoying protest or demonstration, and we can't have that now can we. ;)

"It's a sign of an educated mind to be able to entertain different ideas but not necessarily buy into them" or something along that vein.

Its a belief system with philosophies on how to live an effective, productive, integral life. And like MANY belief systems these days, they are not so much trying to subvert those who believe in God, they are trying to subvert religion, just like the religions are trying to subvert those belief systems.

What is the outcome of this satanic learning supposed to be? Surely the School or education system does not want to subvert one of the religions - they merely want to inform the kids about its existance in a controlled environment. What stops the kids from "googling" satanism anyhow? Sticking one's head in the ground "a la ostrich" will not make "evil" go away.

It is time Xtians and Co wake up - not all information is an attack on your religion - to believe that makes you a conspiracy theorist IMO.

Satanism, sex, drugs, religion, AIDS, etc are all a reality. For too long South Africans have ignored it, or not spoken about it. Where did that bring us?

I would rather have my kid learn about satanism in a controlled environment at school that him/her getting the info from some uncontrolled drug addict, the internet or worse.

The same goes for sex education, BTW.

LOL

It isn't the point at all is it?

I have never said that agnostics and atheists can't join in discusssions. And I may have been a little too subtle in my definition of believers - satanists are believers, they have turned away but they still believe.

What I gather from your statement is that atheists should be able to argue about whether believers have a right to be angry. Sorry, this is something that atheists should stay out of. And that isn't the same as saying that they aren't entitled to what ever opinion they may want to have.

Okay - take a Christian. He is so because he believes and has faith in God and Jesus his saviour. And you have an atheist who actually believes that you live and you die and that's it - you are nothing more than an cleverly arranged sequence of chemicals.

And they are not opposites. The opposite of a Christian is an anti-Christian (yeah I made that up). The anti-Christian will argue against everything that the Christian holds true.

The atheist says that both the Christians and the anti-Christians are wrong. That it is all a bunch of superstitious mumbo jumbo. He is plumb neutral. So why would an atheist have any need to get involved in arguements of faith other than to defend his own point of view? Why would an atheist get 'evangelical'? Or are they just trolling?

Well im Omega-Mormon.

Let me explain, Christians and Muslims are blind sheep, Atheist's still live with their parents and you are all going to Hell, except me.
