First of all, you have to understand, when **** is not going your way, and you complain and complain but get nowhere(like these kids were feeling) You go to PLAN C, not B, C = YOU DO DAMAGE.

Why burn their own schools you ask? TO GET ATTENTION. Us talking about it right here is the whole point of why the kids did it! Maybe now someone will look into their poor communities.

This method is not new, this method of burning schools or other facilities to voice opinions of frustration and anger has been going on since the beginning of time. You do not hear much about it in the US/Europe because those countries are wealthy! There is no reason to question WHY AFRICA, we are POOR and this is what POOR PEOPLE DO when they are frustrated. They are not as priviledged as some of us with 4mbps adsl, food in the fridge, big schools outside and cash to burn...and torrents of the latest episodes of glee on deck.

These kids use this method as their last straw, read the story, the kids tried but no one listened, when that happens, you have to make them listen "by any means necessary" - Malcolm X.

Last week like said above the parents had a chance to make a difference. But no VIVA ANC. Blame your idiotic parents you dumb @$@#$ I have no sympathy they could have made things better for their children.

We are here lucky and 'educated' thus we can blame the masses for voting like...well, the masses but understand they do not know just how bad their lives are because of the Governments in this country, they have NO IDEA because of lack of education, these are the same people who have no idea what youtube.com is. Think about it.

All they know is ANC = for blacks/colored/indians(if you are poor vote ANC), DA = for whites/slave owners(if you are rich vote DA) -- This is the truth, this is how they see it!

I agree with you to an extent but look at human history, look at what is going on now in Spain, middle east etc. Words are not enough, they never have been, sometimes you simply have to *DESTROY, to *BUILD.

It's the same logic as "From War comes Peace".

In some cases violence is the only option, but in this case it was not necessary. Also take into account who the the vast majority of the population voted for... They have decided their own fate numerous times.

I hear what you're saying but smashing one's head against a wall over and over again (for the better part of two decades in this case) produces the same results. Even an uneducated person can understand this.

For those educated amongst us who are concerned for our future and want true positive change for all in this country, well, we voted! Seems as though we are screwed though because education isn't improving and the educated voterbase is just too small to make a difference. Then again, we all can make a difference but then apparently traditional beliefs, skin colour and blunt stubbornness are more important than our childrens' future.

In general, blacks refuse to listen to white people with regard to politics. I reckon it's going to require some serious teaching/convincing/pleading/begging/drawing of pictures by educated black folk (NOT POLITICALLY AFFILIATED but just everyday ordinary people wihtout a personal agenda) to get into the minds of the uneducated masses in terms of what's really happening in this country. I know it's easy for me to say as a whitey but really, as a matter of necessity, urgency and flat-out last resort, this should be seen as a responsibility by those who are capable and who will be listened to.

To YOU it is not necessary, but to THEM it clearly is. Once again, maybe me and you can have patience and wait for someone to come in and solve this issue but they simply cannot wait anymore. I don't blame them. And yes, they voted for this party and they expect changes. It's not like the fires would stop if DA was suddenly in office, other problems would emerge for DA and people would cry ANC. It is simply how life goes.

I agree with you, the world is simply not that nice. It never has been. No one cares about YOUR CHILDREN, but their own, thats it. We are forever entangled with useless arguments about skin color, look around MyBB...no look around SA, what are we REALLY known for? Apartheid/Segregation well into the 21st century and here we are today still talking about it, lol.

True, they are other methods but to be on the realistic side(sadly) here. The kids have been waiting for years for the schools to upgrade facilities but nothing is happening. What can the parents do? Complain to the local mayor? Cops won't do anything, most are corrupt. Zuma won't do anything, this town is simply too small to be a bother. They will get placed in que and have to wait another 3+ years.

I also hope in the future schools they teach something that means something...[conflict resolution] but in all honesty, are they really going to do that? Probably not.

I agree with you. This tasks alone to educate will probably take another decade to accomplish because a lot of the people who vote ANC have a deep-rooted hatraded against the DA. As always, it simply connects back to apartheid era. My aunt in Pretoria has vivid memories of the old regime and she literally gets sick to her stomach when anyone brings up Voting for DA but at the same time she knows that ANC is garbage, but she is too afraid of what might happen if DA are in control. I thought she was a bit nuts until I heard her entire community where she lives agree with her.

To blacks, letting the whites(DA) "rule" SA, would mean going back in time. As you said, for DA to capture the hearts of the people of SA they need a make-over, something like replacing Zille with a black or at very least colored person be in charge. Both of these scenarios are probably not going to happen because DA is not all squeaky clean themselves, they probably wouldn't want a black/colored person leading the way, not yet.

Either way, I hope things work out for the best for all of us and we get rid of Govt structures all together. Down with them all.
