Announcing a Community Wi-Fi Mesh

Wondering whats happening here? Perhaps Iliyan is bogged down flashing the firmware on those hundreds of thousands of AP's?

Hi,
I just spent like 30min's (maybe more was soooo entertaining reading all of this!) reading the entire thread.

I must say Iliyan, you really do sound like a person who, has some technical ability and some of the details that i have read in your posts sounded valid as far as my knowledge of wifi goes ( I'm a software developer with a BSc degree, no fancy B.Eng like some others ;) and so have only really worked with wireless practically, to get my own home and friends networks up ) so my specialty isn't wireless comm's at all.

One thing I must say is that many of the people that you accused of posting pointless stuff really know a thing or ten about wireless comm's i have read allot of posts by some of them and they do know what they are talking about , they just want hard proof because we have seen soooo many fly-by-nights on these forums, promising us the sun and moon in terms of wifi internet access etc, and then just silently disappear into the night....

So i think me and allot of people would love to hear from you again and maybe give us all an update on your progress.

Oh and it was mentioned before but, in the digital age we are living in today, the internet has become more than just a large network, websites represent people and organizations (ala web2.0) so if you are really serious about this you should maybe consider a professional to design your webpage and give yourself a professional corporate image. A company with a well designed logo, slogans and vision and mission statements can go a long way, in fact with out a decent corporate image and presence very few banks will consider loans etc. I know not all of us are gifted in design, some are good at all the technical stuff but some times the creative part is lacking...

Ok next point you still have some major grammar and spelling errors on your page, some examples :
page name : http://www.wifi-mesh.co.za/join.htm
"Please note the conditions that you need to comply with before applying for an Internet access" -> "an internet access"?"internet access"
"There is a coverage in the area of your residence." -> "a coverage"?"coverage"
There where others but i didn't have time to point them all out....

I also don't spell very well so correct me if i am wrong ;)

This is a genuine attempt, aimed to be constructive criticism.

So to end in a truly sincere and, well classical way:

Good luck and good night...

Your wasting your time ASS_SAZIN` he is not gonna post again, it was just one of those threads there is every month about someone wanting to start a wisp. So let met put it like this, if you wanna start a wisp dont ask about it here cause you'll sure as hell get nailed.

And, judging by threads such as this, the "nailing" is justified.
A shameless plug, followed by vigorous justifications, followed by silence.
Sounds almost, uhm, political.

and I was "SO" looking forward to suction-cupping my AP to my window at home... :(

ASS_SAZiN, thank you for your efforts and good words; as you noticed, such valuable posts like yours are very, very few in this thread.

From your comments I gather that you are of British origin - what is not that obvious is that mine is not.

I am sure you and others will join the majority of the South African in showing a tad higher tolerance to the grammar mistakes made by a person who has never attended English school in his life; also please excuse the lack of eloquence on our web site - I've never looked up to the Queen as a reference to good writing style.

:-)

Kloon is sadly right though - as I eventually discovered - starting this post on this forum and offering an open hand to the kids playing at this playground was pure waste of time.

But I learned a lot from this thread, and as it did not cost me much, I end up gaining something for nothing.

That I thought that's a bargain.

Iliyan,

Prove us wrong! Implement it, and let's see some proof... I am still waiting to see it in action.... When is it going to happen?

i just did a scan, and nothing.
Either I am in an outlying area, or the proposed 200 000 nodes by now are too far from me.
