Right, I'm in a new place. There was an existing setup here, that included a Cybersmart account.

There's been a lot of mud-flinging it seems, and after having read the responses by Laurie, I am inclined to give them a go.

Simple question from my side: Will the Smart Business uncapped enable us to surf during the day, stream in the evenings and do a bit of P2P during the specified times?

We have to get line ownership changed, etc, so what would the process be to get the line/account transferred to someone else's name (and from Telkom to Cybersmart) for the month of May?

Any response by Cybersmart affirming this (or a competing offer from any other ISP :D) will pretty much guarantee our business.

Cheers!

Hi Copacetic

Firstly congrats on the new place and thanks for giving us a go.:D

Our smart business accounts are designed to work exactly as you think with P2P downloading taking a knock during the day so that the rest of your internet experience is better. As far as surfing and streaming is concerned, these services are prioritised all day every day. On Smart business we open up access to P2P again during 12:30AM and 07:00AM and also give you access to 100% of your line speed during this time.

For the change of ownership of the line, sadly this is not something that we can do, as this needs to be done by Telkom. Your best bet would be to speak to someone at one of the Telkom stores and getting them to assist with getting the necessary forms completed. Once the change of ownership has been done, moving the line to Cybersmart is the easy part. Simply sign up on our website or speak to one of our consultants to help you through the process.

If you need anything else, feel free to drop us a message and we can get someone to give you a call to help out if need be.

Regards

The Cyber Team

cybersmart are much slower at responding to support queries as they are to sales questions

I'm on Smart Business 10mb and use the account just as you describe. I am able to run at least 2 hd streams through Netflix and Hulu and on the weekend was running 3 simultaneously without any issues. The line is completely blocked for torrents during the day and I just schedule these between 00:30 and 07:00. The account has a 300gb limit after which it is unusable.

Hi Liber8

We have on occasion not been able to respond to our client queries as quickly as we would like to, and for this would like to sincerely apologize to our clients for this:cry:

We are however constantly trying to improve ourselves and our service that we provide and pretty soon we should be operating like a streamlined butterfly;).

If you are still waiting for assistance on a query, drop me a PM and we can look into it for you

regards
The Cyber Team

Well, having an issue. I cannot log into Diablo 3.

Going to try another game now, and see what happens...

Can't play Path of Exile either:

Could the game patching be P2P or something?

This whole deal is not going to work if I am unable to play games in the evening.

I am not sure what account we are on now, but I would like to make sure that the uncapped is in fact uncapped.

Hi I think it might be p2p

Quick update on the D3 slowness.

We think we have found the issue with D3. Our Controlling engine saw some of D3 traffic for behavioral Uploading/Download and encrypted bittorrent, and ended up classifying it as p2p (just like you pointed out). We have now added a specific /22 assigned to Blizzards into the gaming prioritizing group together with some other rules to make sure they do not fall into the same category as p2p.

If D3 gamers (with a star rating of 3 and above) could let me know how things are looking now in terms of latency; there might still be some ips to be added but this should be a good start.

Well, now you need to excuse me, I have a game of Pac-Man to complete.

You can look there hope that helps.

And yes i do believe that the smart business product.

Thanks to the person who mentioned some stuff.

Once I've figured out a bit where the issue lies, I will contact support officially.

Cybersmart doesn't support downloads on news servers, just found out the hard way even after asking the sales guy this specific question.

Don't use news servers, no issue.

What is an issue, on the other hand, is the fact that I just played Diablo on another ISP for an hour and a half with a perfect ~200 ms ping, and when I changed over to the the Cybersmart account it spiked to ~900 ms.

I will contact them tomorrow. I hope they can sort this out.

Just to reiterate:

There's no issue with the line or anything.

If they can just get the games I play working, this sounds like a perfect deal. I'm in fact happy that torrents are blocked at certain times, as then I don't have to go fight with people using the bandwidth unfairly.
