Another Cybersmart thread.

Huh. This is happening consistently. No wonder I've been getting so annoyed. Log in, hang about in town, think 'awesome, latency seems great', then proceed to die every time I encounter a pack of monsters due to lag.

I've never in my life encountered something like this, what could cause it?

I think I know exactly what's going on here. It's registering the traffic as unknown on their end which places it in the shaped pool. They simply need to open it up on their end - takes no more than a few clicks of the mouse button for them...

I'm using their capped bandwidth, there should be no shaping to begin with.
 
I just tried Path of Exile, as a point of comparison:

Those spikes should not be there, but the game is playable.

Sunday evening relaxation is vital so I can imagine the frustration. Thanks for the comprehensive information on your findings as well, it will definitely help with looking into the matter for you. I have arranged for one of our techies to contact you this evening for some further tests while we investigate things on this side as well.

Something must have gone awry, I'm afraid.

Game is still borked, just tried now.

Hopefully we can make contact and run those tests tomorrow?
 
I spoke to support today, and the chap I spoke to wasn't sure about the call I was meant to have had yesterday, but scheduled one for this evening, which did not arrive either.

Going to test Diablo 3 now.
