(Another) Plasma vs. LCD/LED Thread

That's excellent, and this is the type of reply you give in every LCD/plasma thread that makes it past 10 posts without my participation. You've learnt to expect it. I'm thrilled to have made my way into one of your non contributive posts once again! ;)

Got the popcorn out and read through the thread. I knew that when you reply, it would start The Debate again...
The Debate is like Thread Killer in the DSTV, TopTV, SABC, TV and Multimedia thread....

Quoted for the truth....

So point out the non-current invalid distorted views with an agenda, for everyone to see.

This is your second chirp from the side lines - par for the course, I won't expect you to actually be constructive.

I've read it twice.

Come on:

An LED TV is an LCD TV with LED back-lighting. LED back-lit LCDs use the same TFT LCD matrix technology as CCFL back-lit LCD. Picture quality is not dependent on back-lighting type. In fact, LED edge lighting is worse.

That is why noxibox posted this:

Only LED back-lit LCD using local dimming and/or full array LED, offers an advantage over their common, run-of-the-mill LED edge-lit counterparts, which are no better than CCFL back-lit LCDs. These special, high end LED-LCDs are very expensive, and trust me, the chances proponents of "LED TV being the best!" have actually seen these LED-LCDs, is extremely minuscule.

This is a typical response from an ignorant buyer who goes to their local Game/Makro to oogle TVs and more importantly base their decisions on which tech is the best. Game/Makro/etc. are inherently flawed because they have bright shop lighting and aisle viewing distances: These are not realistic representations of most people's home conditions, so when people judge in bright stores from aisle viewing distances, it is a complete fallacy. It's a vicious cycle, after the viewing and succumbing to all the marketing gimmick, you now have non technical people punting what they think is the best tech, all based on numerous false pretences.

That must really be a wonderful TV, congrats! The crux of the argument though, is that it probably costs around R15,000 for 46". For that price, we are talking 59" plasma.

And you probably missed this:

When your in PTA or Gauteng, please let me know. I would like to show you my Plasma. The one you recommended.

It seems that pixels (not sure if its pixels) are dying.
The reflection is killing me!
It does not "render" all the scenes correctly.

Suppression of info isn't very nice, we all know.

Sigh! Please guys do not comply, rather practice the first and most important part of my signature, I cannot endure another repeat of all the same arguments and misinformation. Let the young lad revel in his dreams.

Well, I don't need any more evidence than that, I am now even more convinced of how sweet it is to be on the side of truth and experience.

Wow. A report and pictures will be in order!

Your tech failing is not my problem. There are ten-fold more people whose plasma's are just fine.

You should have noticed reflectivity in store, and the specifications on the box, surely.

Why is your tech failing my problem? There are ten-fold more people whose plasma's are just fine.

Did you not notice reflectivity in store, or the specifications on the box?

Haha - advice without responsibility it looks like. Please name the wild statement ten-fold - can we have the names and (genuine) posts confirming these ten-fold?

Why is your tech failing my problem? ........

Why do I find this comment so humorous? This from a guy that was upset and outraged when a member posted he bought an LED instead of the plasma he was recommended to buy?

Did postman not inform you the usual comment "you have to live in a cave" to own a Plasma?

I actually completely agree with you - get PP to do that first and this thing would never happen, (he triggers these things) - I promise.

This is some of the best current valid info, with no distorted views whatsoever. This certainly triggered no responses.

Bud and I know the usual suspect will come here and say otherwise, LED is the only way to go.
Thank god I never bought plasma.
I have the LED is my room and have it on. Energy saver, its bright and awesome.
When I take it off, it feels like I am in the movie.
Even brighter and more vibrant.
Plasma is yesterday
