(Another) Plasma vs. LCD/LED Thread

Have you tested Movie mode on your (bright) LCD yet?

Yes - but I'm not quite sure as to what you're asking?

I say that plasma is dull compared to my bright screen ... and then you want me to rather go dull as much as I can on my LCD to get it to the equivalent of plasma dullness. Eh?

Arggg :D I give up, without getting an infraction......I will leave it at that. :D
Got to be careful around here
Anyhooo. Just got home and put on a full HD movie on my beautiful LG LED backlit with bad blacks - was amazing

HD content looks amazing on any modern HD TV, so your experience is to be expected. As wily points out, as a layman you are not in a position to understand the technical aspects, therefore the technical differences, superiorities and inferiorities, are not important to you. It's the enthusiasts who know what to look out for.

What'a tw... I have shown you the same methods you resorted to with Tim, then there is Me, Dolby, Roman, Mr_Bee (Sorry for the names I missed, there are just too many) and goodness know how many others. We can now clearly see where the problem originates from! I still vote for a special PlasmaPot only TV subforum!

Read iceman23's post if you need to understand my opinion once again. Compare this to people who blatantly shoot down plasma, call it yesterday's tech, call "LED" the best, etc.

I've told you already but here's a hint:

CNET said:
Choose the picture mode (typically Movie or Cinema) and color temperature preset (typically Warm or Low) that produces the most accurate initial dim-room picture, allows full access to detailed controls and comes closest to D65, or 6500K.

Your love for brightness is akin to a non musical person's love for excessive earth-shattering bass.

Cry me a river, and for that you attack people and call them trolls for their experiences and views and then doing so act the resident Joker (I am then the Jester as we agreed;) ), is it worth it? I gave you a small list of names but the deeper I delve into it the more names I dig up.

A troll is one who deliberately posts provocative statements in order to generate reactions. The accounts of laymen are not invalid, however they certainly aren't excluded from being trolls if they call others out, blatantly shoot down technologies, call plasma yesterday's tech, call "LED" (LCD) the best, etc. Their accounts are only fuelled by their incorrect beliefs.

I am delighted that you are spending your hours on digging up names!

Surely it's up to me and what I enjoy? :/

For me personally, dull doesn't *quite* do it

Bwahahaha, what a joker, based on that post of yours please explain what about the trolls calling Plasma TV's best? Should all those that think or believe different act like you do? Anyway, it's a fact of life, we all know that Plasma's will soon be an old and outdated nich cosumer device, everyone else would be able to afford something better and that is an TV that is cheaper, more reliable, low on power consumption, brighter, darker, faster, pretier, thinner, more ergonomic, more green (power and recycle), lighter in weight, have more features I can go on and on. So call me whatever you want that will not change the reality and facts of modern technology. It's happening bud, the Plasma is doomed and are following the path like any old and outdated technology before it. ;) So why waste thousands now if better are already here or on the way?

PS: If I left out any feature please add them to the list.

Quote which trolls called plasma the best and where others defended them. (The converse being your dramatic defending of marine1's troll post positing that "LEDs (LCDs) are the best", "plasma is yesterday's tech", "thank my GOD that I didn't buy plasma" etc.

Here is a post you endorsed:

Now, i just want the best bang for my buck. If my budget is 35K, I want the biggest screen not that one is 0.5% more black than the other or 0.2% more uniform than the other. I dont want stupid media players and I dont want barely functioning youtube apps. I just want a tv from a reputable brand as big as I can get. At this point this is a plasma. If LCD / LED was cheaper I would go with that. I would think that about 95% of the population would be the same if they were not "led" by annoying ill-informed sales people.

The issue here is not whether plasma is dead or not, it's about what's better. It's no surprise why you resort to this argument considering your agenda just confirmed by your post.

This is an agenda, confirmed by your dramatic defence of "LEDs" (LCDs):

Plasma and LCD owners alike must be in hysterics. Particularly the ones at CNET who use plasmas as their reference TVs (2008 Pioneer KURO still the best 2D picture quality - their words). Yeah, outdated technology.

Yes, the problem is when you use what's up to you to bash plasma by using moot points (for most).

I didn't bash them ; I said they don't appear dull, they are dull.

How many times do you read the same thing being said on here by many others? It's obviously not just my opinion

Hell, all logic defies any words. You really need serious help, serious!

So are cinemas
So is your TV on Movie mode
So are LG's on Cinema mode
So are calibrated TVs
So are reference test TVs determining best PQ in dim rooms
etc.

It's an invalid point to use against plasma (unless bright room conditions, or the personal preference of bright, washed out colours). TV experts like Movie mode and dark rooms, like music lovers don't like excessive bass because they like reference sound quality.

... but there is an option to brighten should the need arise, as it has the capability. Not every room or window placement is identical. Not every light source is identical. I have the option of going dim to bright and vibrant - which is great!

My car and my neighbours car can both do 30km/h and 100km/h - but he's got the option of going 300km/h which I sadly lack.

My plasma was too dull for me - and most others I see, are the same.

Well your TV's Movie mode is supposed to be the closest option for best PQ besides calibration, and it's dim. Your analogy holds no water. If people have bright rooms let them buy LCD based on the advice and they can benefit from its brightness. Do not hold it against plasma and apply it to all people.

*sigh*

No wonder everyone fights with you :/

Rephrased, "No wonder he fights with everyone!" must be because he is but hurt whenever facts or other members experiences are posted that contradicts his personal preference..

my personal [-]preference[/-] is confirmed in iceman23's post, which you agreed wholeheartedly with. The only one bolstering their own personal preference is you.
