I applied for an analogue line a while ago and they scheduled it for the 18 th. I was not all that optimistic, but at around 8 am this morning a knock on our door from the Telkom technician. He was very friendly, competent and even fixed up some other small issues with our existing ADSL line.

Hats off to the Telkom staff on this one!

Hmmm. Are they trying to bribe their favourite foe? :D :D

LOL - I doubt that anybody dealing with this issue even knows I exist. I must however say that it is a good start to make me more positive…now scrap ADSL access charges and drop bandwidth rates and we are in business :D

I must admit I have never had a problem with any Telkom technician that was at my house. The problem exists to actually get him there.

Just want to let you guys know, i ordered an adsl line on tuesday morning and yesterday morning recieved a call from a very friendly telkom lady saying everything is done, come pick up your modem:) a total of 2 days:D i was very impressed:cool:

If it were not RPM posting this thread I would have said there must be a few new Telkom employees lurking around in the forum!

first antithesis, now rpm....

i am expecting a thread titled "All credit to the Minister" from ic any moment now...

They know who you are rpm. Likely they monitor you and know all your numbers and areas where you work and play. :D Thats why they're paying special attention to you :p

Keep your friends close, keep your enemies even closer - and there is no doubt in my mind that Telkom knows more about you than you realize! Perhaps the very reason you got such fantastic service!.

rpm u didnt happen to mention who you where?

i think that we should never shed telkom in a good light because there is no light to shed period

I'm sure there were some "friendly and competent" SS officers at Auschwich.

I have a few positive telkom stories. Does not exclude them from my wrath of being raped every month! Nevermind their useless 3 gig caps (though even this could be construed as positive in terms of soft-caps.) At the end of the day nothing excuses abuse: and telkom is a primary abuser!

Please dont make jokes about Auschwich, my great uncle died there.
He fell off a guard tower. Old one I know....

It's ok rpm... I know all too well the shock of finding something like this and my thoughts are with you :D

It's weird isn't it? Like the twilight zone or something.

Hey I wanna know do people actually work INSIDE the exchanges? Or do they just visit it when work needs to be done there? Because all I need is for these guys to change the jumpers or whatever and the lady on the phone said the technicians in the exchange dont have phones with them, they keep in contact by messages. How true is that?

When a techie was at my house to test the dsl line in august last year, I noticed that he had a laptop with a vodacom HSDPA card. I asked him about the HSDPA card and he said something about logging in to a specific website to see what work needs to be done etc.

yebo.. they have a management system that they leave msg's on to say what they working on etc, much like most businesses do. Its a way to reduce time wasted so from their place they can go straight to the first job instead of going into the office.
