Newspapers print what is novel, unusual and interesting. Black on black and black in white crime are none of these things. White on black and white on white crime are, because white people should know better. They are held to a higher standard (and rightfully so) and when they spectacularly fail to meet these standards it turns into news. Is this really so difficult to understand?

Why do you say whites should be held to a higher standard?

When much is given much is expected. Whites benefitted greatly during apartheid in terms of education and economic prosperity. Of course you expect more from well educated people coming from good homes and supportive families. What I am saying is the opposite of racism. Race as such is irrelevent, background and past opportunities are not. The fact that in South Africa this happens to correlate with race is a coincidence. Does saying that I expect adults to act more responsibly than a child make me an ageist?

Even were that true - which is another debate - it does not mean that race should be removed from articles in one case, and highlighted to absurd levels in others.

It is pure, blatant, unadulterated racism on the part of the newspapers to do so. In fact, it is so obvious that the removal of race in some instances leads one to immediately assume the perpetrators are black! Even when that could be wrong.

It does no one any justice or good to only highlight race when it suits the political agenda of the "paper".

Further to what I said before, then it is fair that these "uneducated people" also not be in positions of power, as they have no self control? Should we force all people from a disadvantaged background out of these positions?

You cannot have both - either you are a part of a functioning society with all its rules - or you are not. You do NOT get to choose the rules you want to obey or that suit you.
