Another Solar Journey Thread

Wowser, that's a serious DB board, you must have a pretty large place.
Yeah, that's the type of DB board I would have if I was building a place from scratch - in my dreams I would have dedicated smart breakers for every plug point , light switch , element so that it is easily managed from one place. Would also then have a dedicated AP installed just there for super reliable WiFi - will carry on dreaming

Not always the great. The smart bus controllers had to be replaced twice after a lightning strikes and when that happens most things don't work. There's no manual override on these.

After some deliberation I have decided to use my north facing flat roof and I will be adding the remaining 8 panels there which will be mounted on angles and blocks.
That's cool, so the East facing roof can be used for phase II, the MPPT still has capacity for another 6800 watts.

Yes glad that I have that option still. This was quite an expensive exercise. Phase 2 might be very far away or perhaps never incase I sell the house.

Install complete? All working as intended?

Lekker groot DB's daai. Plenty of space for expansion. Fsck knows why today's developers go for the smallest DB they can get away with.

Having lived through Tasmota SONOFF's losing all their configs (when I didn't have a specific option set) and Eskom rapidly bouncing (assuming them to think I wanted to wipe the config) and then needing to get into the roof with a laptop and that USB/RS232 (can't recall) adaptor to reprogram them in place was not a fun exercise. This is why I think having everything easily accessible makes it that more palatable when it does get borked.

But another question for you, surely you must have loads of surge arrestors in the DB to hopefully at least negate the strike/surge issue? And assume it's also part of your new PV and AC/DC DB boards being installed to provide some further protection?

I have surge arrestor on the main supply before the DB board and I have class 1 lightning protection system on the roof with spikes going to ground. The install also has some lightning and surge protection.

Where are they planning to run the AC wires, I am a noob, but my installer ran separate conduit for AC and DC wires as he said it interferes with each other which can cause problems.
AC wires are on the right and DC wires are the left. There's no overlap between them.

Almost there. Just a few small issues to sort out:

1. One of my geysers is tripping since they connected everything up.

2. The non-essential load is not showing on the inverter. I believe it may be something to do with CT sensor. The "Limit to load" system mode is unticked.

3. I can't change the data logger interval on the website or app I think only the installer can change it.

4. The inverter firmware probably needs an update.

Question - The SOC on the battery info bounces between 99% - 100% is that a problem?

2 - Can you show us your system mode screens, System summary screen and also the flowchart when a non-essential item is running?

from the second image of the flowchart it doesn't look like there is a non-ess running (at that time - the load from grid is going to serve the essentials on the 3-phases. If there is a Non-Ess then the house icon will have a value

Will check again.

I ran my aircon now.

Which pulls about 4kw.

Prepaid meter is showing 5kw being pulled but system is not showing it.

yeah looks like CT is placed either in the right place (incoming Eskom feed) or is facing the wrong way or is not working properly
