My landlords finally decided that they are ready to go for solar.

To power the 3 properties (main house + 2 apartments) they are opting for:
16kW Deye Inverter
2 x Volta Stage 3 10.34 kWh Batteries (20 kWh total)
11 kW Solar panels (not sure about brand or size)

Excited to see how it turns out once installation is done. Personally I would've gone for a Sunsynk, but can't see any major issues with the system they decided on together with the installer.

It still needs to be installed. And this will take away the reason for going for walks when load shedding hits.

Anyone know if the Deye inverters also have a web interface to keep track of production and usage?

Also, sunsynk and deye are the same thing.
 
Aside from some software and interface differences as far as I could gather.
Yeah. They're produced in a Deye factory who then load custom software for sunsynk. Sunsynk then also use their own dongle and cloud infrastructure. Functionally they're basically identical though.

Yup. That's pretty much what I could gather from my research.

Need to find out how the Deye version of the dongle works and what web interface options there will be. It's most likely going to be up to me to keep track of thr system once it's up and running.

You can use any of Deye Cloud, Solarman smart or Solarman business apps. It also integrates directly with home assistant if you're running that.

Hopefully the installer will show us how it works otherwise I'm going to have a lot to learn and loads of questions to ask. Apparently the rails and panels will be installed tomorrow and the rest of the stuff sometime next week.
 
Rails/framework for the panels are being installed today. Seems the installer has made a steel framework which than has parts of aluminum rails attached to them. Can't say I've seen it done this way before, I thought the entire thing would be made out of railing.

The roof is a flat roof with a downward slope from E to W. Seems they are installing one E facing string and the rest N facing. I can see the benefit of the E facing string to catch that morning light, but wouldn't that make the panels pretty much useless in the late afternoon?

Seems the solar panels will be 28 x 395W Jinko panels. Which is an interesting choice...

Oh, the irony. Power went out from 6PM last night and only just came back. Pity all those panels, batteries and inverter weren't installed yet.
 
Panels were installed yesterday. Rest of the installation will only be done on Thursday, so quite a bit of waiting time.
 
System is up and running, although not all the solar panels have been connected yet as they are waiting for parts.

Is it normal that the battery has a negative in front while it is charging?

We don't have an account yet to be able to monitor the inverter. The installer said he'll set up an account and send the details through. Spoke about working through the Solarman app. Is there a web interface too?

Yes, the negative helps understand the direction

Yes, there are web interfaces for both Solarman and Deye cloud
