Anti e-tolling website goes up

Dont know much afrikaans, what does "outa" mean?
 
Welcome to our democracy where decisions are made for you no matter the cost to you. Our Gov is so used to be trusted to do all the thinking for their supporters that they sometimes forget that not everybody in our democracy is that dependant on them any more.
 
What's the difference between outa and tollfreegp.co.za?

Some number for those that have not seen them yet:
Q. How may KM were improved?
A. 185km

Q. The cost of the road improvements?
A. R20b

Q. How many toll gantries were built?
A. 49, average spacing is 185km/49=3.77km

Q. The cost of the e-toll infrastructure?
A. R14b

Q. Cost per gantry?
A. R14b/49=R285m

Q. How many lanes were added?
A. 1 lane

Q. Was this a new road?
A. No (the ZA norm is to build a new road and toll the new road)

Q. What % of revenue goes to collection (reflection of efficiency of collection)
A. 35%, compare that with SARS which is <1%
A. A Fuel levy would be virtually zero.

Q. To pay for the roads, what would a Gauteng Only fuel levy ?
A. 10-15c per litre for 8-10years (not sure if this covers the R14b as well)

Q. Budgeted income per day?
A. R300m

Q. What % of fines get paid?
A. 20% - probably about 20% will pay e-toll as well.
A. A fuel levy would be 100% collection.

Q. What % of Electronic Toll Collections (ETC) is owned by overseas?
A. 85% owned by Kapsch (Austria).

Sick and tired of B&W politics, no really. Grow the f*** up.

Congrats on ANOTHER online grievance black hole. Most of the Government drones are probably still trying to figure out what the hell "Google" means ...and they're the lucky ones.
They'd have more luck pushing the domain registration money into buying an old 1900's printing press and dropping fliers on the Highway.

Then again, who am I to judge? Here I am, getting pissed off on the interwebz again... *sigh*

Urban tolling alliance would be sanral and the rtmc ;)
 
Some of the info on the website is wrong. The %s, number of lanes and costs. Why is mybb giving mileage to something that clearly uses misleading information to oppose the tolls

it's an alliance in opposition to urban tolling

jeez, stop getting so hung up about a name

this is body that is planning legal action against e-tolling so it's not just another grievance black hole as there are some serious heavyweight industry bodies behind it

It is actually an old Koi word taken up in Afrikaans meaning an old man. The word Aija was used for an old woman. When I grew up you always added the words Outa and Aija to the names of older black people like you added Oom and Tannie for older white people.

Why does it seem like this thread is about the name of a website & not as stated in the OP about gathering together to stand against this bloody rediculous toll system???

If you say so, to me it reads "opposition to [the] urban tolling alliance" or a group that opposes another group that opposes urban tolling, call me a nit picker if you must.
