AntiTrust to stage MNP protest

Hi rpm,

A member of antitrust received an email from VirginMobile in the wee hours of this morning, talking about the Virgin protest later today. It was decided to reproduce the entire email on antitrust for the benefit of those who are interested in telecoms activism but did not receive this email.

Some quotations in the article are attributed to antitrust when in fact they come directly from the email.

Antitrust of course supports this protest being led by VirginMobile, however we wish to point out that we are not involved in any of the organisation behind it.

I unfortunately am in another part of the country at the moment and so will be unable to attend. I am trying to contact a couple of the more vociferous Antitrust members in JHB at the moment to find out if they are attending. Having only received the VirginMobile email early this moring, this is a little short notice.

I wish VirginMobile would respond to our attempts to set up some kind of communication pathway to consumers and consumerist organisations - so that we may be informed of these sorts of things beforehand - but so far they have been unresponsive.

Regards,
Debbie

Give Richard Branson a link to myadsl Debbie ;) Well, if it is organized by Virgin I don't see a reason why they should do it alone?

teraside we have repeatedly tried to get some kind of response from VirginMobile with no luck. The least we are looking for is a simple acknowlegement of the existence of the consumer groups in the telecoms arena.

Pathetic really Debbie, I guess Virgin is still a Virgin.

Once the group reaches their destination, ICASA head office, they will hand over an open letter by Sir Richard Branson, Virgin Mobile South Africa founder and Chairman of the Virgin Group.

Hand it to who? What are the odds of anyone actually being there? (At ICASA)

If they leave rivonia 16h00, they will not reach ICASA before 16h00,, by then everyone will be home. They can hand it to the security guard

Very smart move by Virgin to get free advertising!
It's all about the BLING people (That's money if you are to stupid)
And the poor sods at Antitrust think that they have Virgin's support because they care. HAHAHA

And to restate what is obviously not getting through to people-

Antitrust was merely encouraging support from the public for this protest. Antitrust in no way organised or participated in the organisation of this protest. We know as much about it as was contained in the email. M0zy you would know this had you read my first post in this thread.

So what if this is some free advertising for Virgin? Our goals are aligned. If this gets results it's good for us too.
