Hi all, I am contemplating ordering an S9 or two. I don't have any experience with mining but have access to electricity at approximately R0.70 per unit. This "cheap" electricity makes me think that there is an opportunity to be had.

Question is, for a complete novice, how hard is it to get set up and mining? Also any idea in general how much data mining activity uses? Large data volumes could be problematic.

Thanks.

I have an S9 on the way, and if it is anything like the L3+, it's super easy to get up and running.
As for the electricity cost, that's really cheap. I calculate at around R1.30, and even at that, it's still worth it imho.
As for data, again, the L3+ consumes around 350mb/month last I checked the stats on my router. It's tiny.

Thanks, the plan is to try and get a bunch of S9s direct from China, but unless you are patient there is quite a premium to pay.

How is your power that cheap?

Well I have a working colleague that stays in a township and we know in some places they don't really pay for electricity so looking at the S9 also could be very worth while for me
