Hi guys and girls,

I just moved into a digz setup with four of my friends and we are looking to get internet. Currently I use HSDPA from Vodacom, but this is not always the best option as the connection does seem to fluctuate a bit where I live.

What ISP's are best to go with, because at this stage we are considering a 4MB Telkom line, as some of the guys game online etc, whilst I would mainly use it for work and surfing.

Obviously costs are the main factor here, but being able to split the costs would most certainly help.

Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

mmm Neotel Uncapped = R999 divided by 5 of you = R200 each.

Or go for Neoflex 10gig or something - its the cheapest at the mo! Check coverage!

i'm using Telkom 3gig line and havent had problems yet except for the capping, never heard of neotel, heard of neo geo though

Much agreed, a Neotel uncapped is best value. However the problem comes in with sharing the connection. Neotel Prime is a USB phone, so it can't connect to a router. You need to enable 'Internet Connection Sharing'.

It works but can be a pain in the royal ass sometimes. So that leaves Neoflex 15G for R899 or so.. not 100% sure on the price, checkout neotel.co.za. The Neoflex device is pretty awesome. 4 lan ports and leet wireless and its very easy to install and manage.

Last thing. Neotels speeds have been crap lately, so ph them and check first if your area is affected, us here in CBD Cape Town are getting hit hard.

Cheers.

Wireless is a no - go in my home. The are too many health issues involved in using wireless internet (technology in general, using a mobile is enough)

I suggest going with webafrica unshaped, really reliable ISP and they always answer the phone in a timely manner, no contract needed, top ups loaded to your account in under 10 minutes or so of applying for it (self service) etc Real value for money in my opinion and as i mentioned, their service is outstanding, especially if you transfer your telkom line from telkom to them ie so they liaise (sp ??) with telkom instead of you waiting 50 + minutes just to speak to someone about a problem =)

Give meaningful titles, you have a better chance of attracting someone's attention who know about it. Sorry I couldn't resist :p

If you are interesting in getting an ADSL connection I would be happy to go through the options offered by Web Africa ;)

I can be emailed directly at [email protected] or alternatively send me a pm :)
