Any difference between RCT 2000VA and Mecer 2000VA Line Interactive UPS

I want to get something cheap to run my TV and a small Media player - so these are within budget:

RCT 2000VA Line Interactive UPS - R1499

Mecer 2000VA Line Interactive UPS - R1399

so saw the from the reviews of both looks like can handle it as some people are running DSTV and bigger Tv's on them.
Just wondering is there any reason for R100 bucks difference, since they seem speced the same? or any one have other suggestions - I might have to get 2 the other will power a larger TV and media player and maybe my Adsl Router.
I Know i could get a car battery and a Charger / Inverter probably cheaper but i want something that requires no intervention so if I'm not at home the kids can just use it.
But if any one has other suggestions it will be greatly appreciated.
 
I've never had any issues with Mecer products.

If anything goes wrong, you would be able to go straight to them for excellent support.

Most Mecer products are re-branded though :P there's a good chance that it is a RCT product that you are purchasing.
 
Surely you won't get more than 20 minutes out of this running a TV?

So what's the point.

I, who knows nothing, am leaning towards the Tedelex Intelli Power 2 with built in battery. Plug and Play. Collect from Geewiz?
 
I don't think there's anything different other than branding and pricing imo.

I'm actually thinking of buying 1 or 2 to power the routers so at least there's some uncapped internet at home when there's load shedding. I hope the default batteries will be enough tho.

Saw some of the reviews claim 2 Hours on a 55 Inch TV - im looking at a 24 Inch - figure it would work a bit longer.
I was hoping some one on MYBB would have had experience on these.

Intelli Power would be better and get like 6-8 hours on a one of those -though don't think Tedelex makes it - some local company Crystal something makes them now.
Problem is its like 6K plus.
I wonder what it would cost to build one of those - what does a Inverter/battery charger with auto switch cost?
 
The RCT has the fast charger, so better when you add 102AH batteries to it, which you will need to do if you want to run your TV off it for 2 hours.
 
True. But faster than most regular UPSs.

Personally, I am super happy with my Ellies inverter, which has a 20a charger.

Yip true, and Ellies buys from a very good manufacturer in China. They are quite professional .

From my googling i get different answers either have 2 7AH or 2 9AH batteries?

So according to the manual my TV is a 50W running on 12V it should use 4.16 Amps , and the media player I think is 10 watts so that would be about 0.83 (Watts = Amps x Volts) - so like 5 Amps in total.
so each battery I can expect 1-1 1/2 hours - a total of 2-3 Hours.
Or am i totally on the wrong track here.

I think the batteries are connected in series, so you'd get 24v@9ah.

You'll need to factor the efficiency in.
If the RCT was 80% efficient (guesstimate), you'd have a total of 1.5~2.4 hours of total use (from your above calculations). You also don't want to deplete the battery completely. To be safe you'd keep it above 50%.
So I'd say around 0.75~1.2 hours of safe use.

*Edit: Since they're connected in series, you get a total of 9ah. Your calculation is assuming they're connected in parallel. So I'd say it should last you around 20~30 min.

If i go with 24 Volts - we looking at a total of about 2.5 Amps - i would completely drain a set of 7AH in something under 3 hours and a set of 9AH in under 4 hours?
