Any good sofware dev companies?

I was wondering are there any good software development companies that are based in S.A.
Just in case i find myself needing some software developed for me.
 
that is a bit vague you know. what is it that you want to do?
 
ok i actually just want to check them out.. but lets say i wanted a dropbox like app created how would i go about doing that.
 
No no no im looking for a company i can go to if i need software developed.
 
hmm... I know Microsoft companies, and I dont think they are a good fit for what you want to do (more sharepoint skills and so on). I've heard good things about BB&D though (http://www.bbd.co.za/) and they dont program in just one technology.
 
for private use? because i believe there ones available on the interweb (i never got into the whole dropbox thing, so i cant help much more)
 
If its a small application do it private, software development is expensive.

looking at dropbox I'd go for a more open source solution (dropbox supports multiple os's, its not just a web application). From what I've heard about BBD they do development in various platforms & languages and they are familiar with integrating all sorts of systems.
 
I forgot to add that final year computer science students need to do projects for external companies as part of their studies. It could be an option for you?

Yes I do - but imo
- We have in the past subcontracted to other big dev houses and I can safely say without hesitation, the guys I work with at entelect are brilliant. The calibre of the staff imo are unsurpassed. Saying that, there are probably equally capable people elsewhere within those other firms, however as an individual and a company, sad to say I have yet to come across them :erm:. Our experienced hires share the same sentiments, so i dont feel shy or apologetic about my statement.
- by no means are we the biggest, but most certainly one of the best firms here in jhb if no the whole of SA (ok - thats a punt :D )

in any case - I suggest that the OP speak to a few people/companies and get a feel of which one can help him solve his problem. Also get several quotes and advice.
 
I run a small custom dev business, (see link in sig). Or, check out www.rftags.co.za (yes, I do do work for them as ... you guessed it... their software developer). RF Tags is an RFID company but may be willing to take on a software project.

I've only heard good things about Entelect. Thats why is asked ;)
