Anybody else having issues with the new Safari?

Mine keep's crashing. I launch it and go to another application, when I get back the spinning beach ball and it keeps hanging. Very buggy.
Version 4 Public Beta (5528.17)
 
What machine do you have it running on? I hear it is not very good with older machines - it was slow as heck on my G4 powerbook but on my new iMac it is very stable and quick.
 
I never use Safari. It's very unreliable and not everything loads properly. I stick to Firefox it's consistent and gives me no problems.
 
2006 Macbook, but surely the architecture should not influence the performance in such a manner, I mean if Firefox works well the y wont Safari, they are both based on Webkit right?
 
Try resetting Safari. From the Safari menu, click Safari>Reset Safari. Select the following:
Clear History
Empty the Cache
Remove all cookies
Remove all website icons

You can also repair permissions and Restart your Mac.

It could also be due to a third party plug-in, do you have any installed?
 
Nope, no plug-in's just dead standard safari and mac, having said that my homepage is www.digg.com and they may have a lot of Java script in the background, apparently the Java implementation in Safari is not quite up to standard yet.
 
Update : After clearing the cache, updating Java, fixing permissions and generally dancing around the mac with a rubber chicken it seems to be more responsive, not quite yet Firefox responsive but close. It seems to be too much of a hassle anyways... My browser is my most important tool, it should not be giving me crap like this.
I think I'll be using Firefox more often again.
 
It was very unstable for me under 10.5.6 but is much better with 10.5.7.

If the stability is an issue, you can always downgrade to Safari 3 - there's an uninstaller in the Safari 4 package.
 
yes Safari 4 is buggy still. There are some issues with Wordpress as well and safari 4, i ha to uninstall it because i couldnt use WP
 
No problems once I uninstalled Glims plugin. Thank goodness as I'd sooner give up the interwebs than have to grind away with firefox.

Working pretty well for me too.

PS: Java and Javascript are two very different things
