anybody with beta invite yet

Yeah one of the 1st quests I did in Hyjal I got a green axe which replaced the Battered Hilt Sword (forgot the name Qualsedar or something).

We ran the blackrock depths instance our group was full of icc geared peeps. We wiped on the second boss. Not at all like the current bosses (in instances) basically tank n spank. You actually gotta use strats. Got my trinket though + 180 agility.
 
Because Blizz want to test their new streaming downloader, they forcing every beta user to redownload the full client, im looking at ~ 15.9 GB download. Bloody annoying.
 
a guildie today reckoned it was a 20gig download. he wasnt very happy about it, and he's european. for real that its that size though? owch
 
Got my invite last Saturday, and being on a 384 line it took me a week to get the 3.3gb, partly because I need to work during the day and the blizzard downloader stopping for no reason. When it finished, guess what, I need to download 13gb again.

So as a result I haven't got a chance to play, left it to download while I'm away for the long weekend, hopefully it's finished by the time I get home.
 
How do you get the invite? They just randomly pick someone or do you apply?

I applied for the WotLK beta key and got that a month or so later :p Can't find an apply button for Cata though o_O
 
you opt in on you battle.net account. From there they pick random people. I know some sites are running competitions for it as well.
 
Correct! It's just a *itch with the new downloader-15gb :/ and Its a bit unstable. Thou you patch while pkaying! Streams the content on demand from the server.
 
The stream while you play feature sucks kodo nuts!

I'm on a 512kbps line and been downloading forever (sadly was away over the long weekend so missed out there) and still only managed to get 52% of the 15Gb >_< Seems the download slows down to a crawl during business hours because I barely managed to get 3% yesterday. Anyhow, tried to log in a few times and all it does is get stuck on the loading screen. I can see that it is downloading something in the background at full speed but it just doesn't want to log T_T

Its take its time logging in when the download is not done, give it time u will get in.
 
I finally finished downloading everything! \o/
Can't wait to get testing/playing again.

What I did notice though, was that even when I had gotten past "yellow" stage into "green" stage of the download (meaning I had downloaded all the important and really important bits), it was still almost impossible for me to play properly as the streaming download caused crazy game lag and things always seemed to be missing. Players and NPCs names were stuck on "Unknown", I couldn't interact with anything and the minimap wasn't updating things I was tracking.
So yeah, I think on my 512kbps line the streaming just isn't going work so well. The streaming takes full bandwidth and doesn't download fast enough for both the gameplay and streaming to coexist =\
 
As far as I know you need at least a 1mb line for the streaming to go smoothly enough to be able to play.
 
How can you si ton a 512kb line nd complain that streaming doesn't work.

512kb is so old school :P blizz will prob laugh at you if you told them that.

Get 4mb line, and it works fine :)
