I browse the Expansys UK site now and then and would like to buy some phones (particularly the "Grade B" stock, which I find quite reasonable). Has anyone bought from them, and how's the service, delivery etc?

I tried once. Frikken nightmare! They don't (didn't) handle delivery. You have to arrange the courier yourself.

Yip, they don't ship to SA. I ordered stuff from them, the courier costs were about R1300. It's bloody expensive when you have to send a courier to pick up something for you overseas.

I will be extremely amazed if you find anyone willing to ship to SA.
The easiest way to scare the crap out of international suppliers say the words South Africa and Credit card in the same sentence.

Sad reality that we remain "isolated" in some ways. Best to use friends/family/co-workers as couriers :).

Strange, I've never had a problem shipping anything over the last few years... from the US and UK - In fact I just ordered some things online from the US with a mass of 15kg, and it took only 8 days.

While working abroad, I've bought a fair amount from Expansys Hong Kong (their prices are better than the UK one) and the service has been great.

I asked about shipping to SA and this was the response.

We have a rather close business partner who runs the www.pocketpc.hk did mention to me about selling to SA, however we found out in a later stage that the import tax is rather high and there were quite a bit fraudulent orders using other’s (stolen) credit cards.

Geographically, SA just way too far from here ….

We will think about it!

Hmmm... it must be the type of stuff I order from the US and UK that aren't exposed to crime - not electronics or PC related. Those areas are probably the most targeted :(

Yeh... I bought from them in Australia... only problem I had is they had stock availbility on their website, and when I ordered and paid they said they didn't have it in stock.... I eventually cancelled part of the order after waiting for three weeks...

Expansys has an online shop in S.A, they do deliver to S.A :) they are partnered with premiumstore.co.za which is another online shop. This is fairly new which is why perhaps not many ppl know about it, but expansys are expanding.

I've seen their site, quite good prices and delivery isn't too bad either.

eXpansys is now available in South Africa, orders can be collected from our Johannesburg location or we ship countrywide from R49.

How are you different from premiumphones?

operated under license by Premiumstores. Glenhove Square Office Park

It's good to see Expansys now operating in SA. And if they're operated by Premiumstores, the service will be good. I know because I dealt with them before.
