Anyone buy from Expansys?

Hi All,
Just to give you my experience. I have been looking for an XBOX 360 for ages and came across the Expansys site. The XBOX360 Pro with a 60GB HDD is about R2740 and with fully insured shipping it comes to R2940 (give or take a Rand or 2) so is about R900 cheaper than anywhere else in SA!
I saw this thread and wanted to PM to get a Voucher but realised I missed the "cut off date" by one day cause I was ordering on Friday the 5th June.
I phoned and spoke to someone at Expansys just to ask about the couriers and warranty’s etc. They were REALLY friendly and helped with all my questions.
I then went online and placed my order (Morning of Friday 5 June 2009).
Today (Monday 8 June 2009) I received my XBox! Brilliant!!! I am extremely happy! Now just got to get through the next few hours of work before I can get home and start gaming.

THANK YOU EXPANSYS!!!
I will definitely buy from you guys again!

Guess it's what you order then....
I am very glad for you Nones, have fun.

For the rest of us, I did my bit here >>http://www.hellopeter.com/search_results.php?search=eXpansys
I do not really expect a reply, but be warned.

I have been doing all my shopping for the past 3 years on-line without problems till now, so I guess I got too trusting with all these on-line retailers that do give good service.

I ordered a Sony Ereader from Expansys.co.za and had great experience.

They were very helpful and got my order to me very quickly. I'd be happy to buy from them again.

There was someone here who bought one that failed within a couple of months. Don't know if they had to pay to have it returned or what happened.

Ordered Date: 06 October 2010
Supposed Delivery Date: 21 October 2010
Todays Date: 29 October 2010 and Item has not even left for SA yet.

I ordered a TomTom Travel Case from Expansys and as usual I was told that it would take 10 - 12 working days. Nobody had contacted me by the 12th day so I decided to call to see if I could go and pick the item up. Trevor answered the phone and told me the item was not here and that I would need to wait another 1 week.

Well, that week is finished today and I called him to find out, as again nobody bothers to follow up, if I could pick my item up. Again the item has not even left for SA yet. Apparently its 'being followed up on'.

There can only be 2 scenarios when ordering online:

Either you have the stock and you ship it
OR
You don't have the stock and you credit the customer

And most importantly, you ALWAYS (the very least you can do) communicate with the customer. Surely your in-house system flags all the items that should be delivered on a specific day and someone should be checking this & providing feedback.

I am also supposed to collect the goods myself from their office but thats a bit difficult when they have not yet shipped the product from the UK or US warehouses for SA.

I am told the supplier has not yet delivered which in my books = No Stock on hand which means credit, don't keep people hanging.

I just got an e-mail now stating that they are sorry for the poor service and that my order will be cancelled and I will be refunded PLUS they added an extra R100 for inconveniencing me.

First time that has happened to me, I must say.

Moral of the Story:

If you want to make a quick R100 order the TomTom Travel Case from Expansys......

Their response:

Hello D3x,

Thank you for your comment.

Please accept my sincere apologies on behalf of eXpansys South Africa for this unacceptable situation.

We have been completely let down by our eXpansys USA procurement which has led to us being in this situation.

We provide information to you based on the stock availability through our international warehouses, in this case eXpansys USA. We have unfortunately suffered as a result of the stock not being requested by eXpansys USA as required.

Our website allows for a normal 10 working day lead-time due to 99% of our items being procured through one of four international expansys warehouses. In a situation such as this where human error has occured, this has seen the quoted lead-time come and go without the expected arrival of the stock as stated.

We thank you for your support and we have issued you R100 in addition to the amount paid for the item which we hope in some way will show our appreciation to you as our valued customer.

Kind Regards

Sandy Caplan

Yeah, all their phone lines are disconnected. Guess they forgot to pay the phone bill ;-)

They did however respond to my email this afternoon. Not sure if that counts in their favour though, since I placed my order on 2 December and still haven't received the goods.

They also replied to my email this morning.

I see on the email the number for them is: 0860 773 648. Give that a go.
