Anyone do Live COD4 on 3G?

Just hooked up my live again the other day and have had a few rounds on COD4 "free for all" for the first time....
Awesome fun but I must say i'm getting seriously annihalated.

Does it get any better when i get to a level of some decent weapons with auto-aim or do i just tell everyone i'm 4 years old + take the floggings?

Rusty hands on controls + lag on 3G seems kinda murderous mix atm

The weapons do get slightly better (P90 etc), but they won't make up for a rubbish ping or an unstable connection.

Anything over 100ms is going to put you at a serious disadvantage. Thats what I've seen with adsl on local server....might be different on consoles.

I don't think CoD4 will fly, but if you can, try BAttlefield, the lag compensation is very good.

Generally I would say rather get a fixed connection as while the speed may be faster on 3G, the latency is normally high and in on-line gaming, that far out weighs speed.

OK ......
tested some pings
to JHB - 310ms
to London - 630ms
to New York - 430ms

Most noticable on the kill replay - when their shooting me and i'm shooting back at them,i'm not even aimed at them half the time, although before the replay i seemed to be.

Game plays fine.....guess i'm running on handicap - good fun none the less.

I would be too scared to even try that with 3G... The lag would just be no fun at all.

I tried RB6 Vegas on my 4Mbps line and still the lag is horrific.
I dont see guys coming down the stairs and they end up behind me popping me in the head.

If I host theres no problem at all but people generally notice the ping time and it takes forever to find folk to play with.

Ive been playing Metal Gear Online and there seems to be very minimal lag if any at all. I think the game uses a P2P setup instead of Client-server model.

Its actually sad and I can understand why MS doesnt see the value of setting up XBOX live here in SA. Its just such a mission to find SA folk to game with online. I cant even find any SA gears of war players.

Tuna, 300ms is way to much. On the fast paced small maps you'll often be dead 300ms after spawning.
