Council of Geoscience does have a minor event logged near Jansenville , 25 Aug 2024 09:54:07 but doubt it would have been felt as far afield as some are saying.

I'm saying the one photo of a smoke plume is probably unrelated. Everything else is plausible.

The crew member reported on social media that it hit the ocean and let off a blue light and then there were six explosions and flashes of light before as it sank.

FYI: Typical meteors are at 60km altitude. With the speed of sound being 300m/sec, the audio would track the video by around 3 minutes...

I'm guessing the explosion which was heard and felt was the meteorite hitting the atmosphere.

So the fact that they picked up a seismic event is quite hectic actually.

The timing does not match. Ground quake waves are triangulated from various stations, and are also very different from meteor sounds.

9:54 does match. And I don't know much about how seismic events are detected but I could feel the earth shake beneath my feet. It was like a single sub-bass pulse accompanying the audible bang. The house shook. The corrugated roof sounded like bell. So if I felt it and it made everything move then I can't see why a station built to detect tremors wouldn't pick it up...

Don't think there's much left by the time it hits the ground. Probably pebble sized pieces at most.
