Good luck man.
As for the portals they do work. I've had two promising calls led from PNet. Only issue was that they are trying to low ball. However if I was unemployed I'd take the lower offers.

Did you recently use one of these portals?

I have now sent out over 100 applications. Constantly receiving we regret to inform you. I have even sent applications to more junior positions. I really am starting to believe these job portals are just data mining farms. This is really getting rediculous. I think I am going to just start a thread on here in hopes of someone looking for employment that happens to browes MyBB.

All you can do keep trying. The problem with junior positions is that if you are a senior applying for a junior position sometimes employers don’t like it because I know you probably gonna leave anytime once you get a better deal.

I guess it’s mostly depends on the employer.

2nd tip maybe apply directly to companies.

The PNet calls are from two weeks ago with the latest from Friday. But it does look like some of them are collecting data. They never respond and their phones ring off the hook.

Thanks guys. Ai man it blows. I am not one to ever compare myself with others. But when I see people employed in a similar position as me that I know of, and I know that I am light years better than that person, it really demotivates me.

Thanks dude. I really hate this I have applied for everything I could over the last 3 weeks.

Will help you look for some opportunities and let you know if I found anything. But it might not be local.

Here is my CV. I think it looks great. https://we.tl/t-33QiZfOfuJ

The CV looks good, but I would have to look for things to improve, I would suggest the following.
From what I've read, rather remove the photo. Adding a photo doesn't have any pros, but could have some cons.
Add some more space between lines and words to make it easier to read.
I also noticed that I can't select text nor follow links from your CV, making it more difficult to check out your linked-in or contacting you.

I don't think it's the layout of your CV though. It looks really good. It's probably just a lack of opportunities.

was offered retrenchment on the 1st of July or to run on a furlough basis until december. This however isnt covered by FNB's credit life policies so I still have to pay all the bills.

But now they arent giving me work to do. so Im scratching around and looking for some.

Been on a few pnet type sites, Sent my CV out easily 300 times, got 3 bites. One took me to the last stages of the process, down to the last 4 where i lost out.
Waiting on news for the other two now.

Howzit ... yeah, also looking ... in the IT/SAP industry. Luckily the package was enough to cover for a few months ... but those months are now coming to an end very quickly.

Which part of the SAP Space? It's a very broad area

Shot man! Thank you for the critique. A recruitment agency told me to put in a picture of myself

But I hear you. Always thought I had a beautiful face. :p
I'll make amendments based on your suggestions.

Thanks, I have started my own thing. Built this website: and I have one client. But R10k is what I made this month. if I had another 3 of these consistently, that would be great. https://www.innowit.co.za/

Surely people still need digital marketing?

Informative and good looking website.

With one client you are on your way. Get a reference from the client. Even if you do not get a reference at this early stage, use that client's name to approach other businesses in similar field. Obviously you cannot approach direct competitors! People are often nervous of hiring your type of help, so if they are aware of others who have taken the plunge and hired you, they will be more willing to take the plunge, too.

While you are struggling at the moment, you are on the path to financial independence. Yes, as you say, with 3 more clients it would be great. But you will get there. And then you won't have all your eggs in one basket, as an employee has. All 4 clients will not lay you off in the same month.

One door has closed, but others are opening.

Hate to say this op, but maybe remove the photo, just a suggestion?

Reason being, it's a lot easier to see your age, gender, race ect, if you have a photo on your profile.

Pretty sad that I have to be conscious of my race before applying. Makes you think who is really being marginalized...
