I know it will be limited to EDGE unless Apple releases an update. The Radio/chip is capable.

Looking at the 2GB p/m package;

Anyone using the Cell C data sim with the iPhone 4?

Thanks!

AFAIK the iPhone 4 supports 3G @ 900mhz so you should get full speed....

Yip, iPhone 4 supports 3G on all 4 bands (850, 900, 1900, 2100) - 3G should work with a Cell C SIM :)

Gonna pick up a sim tomorrow :)

Thanks for the replies

Now just for that jailbreak! Lol

Can't wait for Cell C to launch 3G in Jo'burg/Pretoria. Where you located? Let us know how the speed and stability is ;)

Ok so I purchased the bundle :)

First off: Cell C does not have Micro Sims.
Secondly: The data sim electrical/contact area on the sim is about 50% larger than a normal sim :0!

So I got the consultant to do a sim swap to a normal sim card, and attacked it with the scissors in store :)
Sim swap was done for free :)

Took about 3 minutes to activate.

Test Date: 08 October 2010 1:58 PM
Connection Type: Cellular
Server: Durban
Download: 3.05 Mbps
Upload: 0.11 Mbps
Ping: 198 ms

Latitude: -29.8342
Longitude: 31.0327

A detailed image for this result can be found here:

Service is ok - Full 3G signal Chatsworth & Westville.

Speed is anywhere from 200kb (edge) to 3mb
Average Latency/Ping is 200 to 300ms. With 1 spike upto a second.

Overall- I'm very satisfied :)

does anyone know of a cell C store in the CPT area where they are competent enough to help me get a cell c sim for my iphone4? the people at Canal walk just turned me away as they clearly weren't interested in helping someone out...

Avoid the one in Kenilworth Centre, they are dumb as donkies.
