Anyone on 8mb?

I know of one or two users who have 4mb lines that have been changed to 8mb.
So I wanted to know how many of you have experienced the same? One of them tells me that they are getting dl speeds of +-840kbps
 
I have a 4Mb line, but unfortunately, have not been upgraded to 8Mb.
I do know of someone that did have an 8Mb line, but he gave it up when he went overseas about 5 months ago.

Would love Telkom to up my line to 8Mb.... :)
 
Yeah me too! from the guys I know have it they recon its awesome. I hear its some kind of trial phase and that things are going to be changing from October for most linespeeds.
 
Sent Mr. Pynee Chetty (Telkom Media Centre Contact) an email asking about the "rumours" - he actually phoned me back. I was not able to get very much out of him with regard to the upgrade of 4MB to 8MB. Maybe he was told not to say anything....... :confused:
 
I wonder what the implications would be for the axxess uncapped users...

we will be able to download double the ammount of data, maybe axxess will push the price up coz of the extra strain on the network? :(

either way, it all sounds very interesting! :)
 
i was on it for 2 days but bumped me down to 4 Mb again since then i been having lank issues with my line so bad i had to go down to a 3Mb line last night ??

I think all Telkom employees are under a non-disclosure restraint... that is why you have only heard "rumours"

how would i test if my line is capable...

and on that telkom mega router, how do i check the line noise etc etc etc?

my line has been a bit unstable recently [between 3.1 - 640k]

This is all that my router tells me... but it is an ADSL2+ router... so I assume that it is compliant.

My Dlink routers give me the maximum attainable line speed for the exchange somewhere in the info. I see the local exchange im on can do 10mb down and 1mb up.

is there another way we can check the maximum attainable line speed for the exchange????
 
Attainable Rate (Kbps): down: 9248 up: 860

That is what my Dlink say.
