Anyone receive an E-Toll Summons?

Has anyone received an E Toll summons yet? I got one delivered to my house on Saturday morning.

I am not E tagged and now have to fight a 50 000 bill!!

Is anyone else in the same situation and what are you doing about it? I am going to get in touch with Outa to get their advice. Not a member with them but will definitely be now. I think it's 120 pm but I may have to pay 10% of the bill for them to fight it because I wasn't subscribed to them before. Still better than dealing with the 50k.

Will appreciate any advice and comments.

10% of the bill? I'd imagine that's 10% of the legal bill, not the etoll bill...
 
10% is gona be rough if you are the one case that they use to make a point. Court, appeal, appeal at supreme court, appeal at constitutional court.

Hang on to your hat, things are going to get rough!

lol I signed up about 2 weeks ago when I got one of their promotional emails.
Paying just R100/month.

Also signed up with JPSA (Justice Project SA) incase the pigs insist on payment for outstanding fines at the side of the road.
 
First double check if it is a letter of demand or a summons. Then contact Outa!
 
This is the first person that I've heard of that has received one.

I've been donating to OUTA for months now - so if I receive anything I will contact them and let them sort it out.


I find it quite strange that SANRAL hasn't been all over the media about their serving of summonses.
 
What a surprise. Not adhering to laws has consequences.

Option 1: Monthly Outa Subscription = R120 + loads of nagging, frustration, witch hunts, admin, stress and spam from Sanral.
Option 2: Monthly E-toll bill = Not even double that (capped) at R225 with no admin or anything else whatsoever.

There was a movie that had some saying to the tune of "value and worth are two very different things". Paying 100 bucks a month more to Sanral just to never hear from them or have any of this admin on my plate is invaluable to me.

I used to owe them over 2K for the short trips I make through Jhb but recently I see my account only says R60something if I pay within so and so or 200 odd for late payment

Your amount owing gets escalated to the VPC and there's a separate login you need to view that.
 
Three years ago I gave you guys a proposal in this thread.

That will cost you R300 once off (depending on whether Joburg pays the same amount as here in the Cape.

Use it, don't use it.
 
Hard luck man. Sorry to hear. Dont have any really good advice other than tell them to **** right off.

Can you imagine what your "capped" amount would have been if everyone sucked up and signed up for E-tolls. Just remember that the drop from 400 odd rand to the current 225 bucks you are currently paying is due to the mass protest against E-tolls and the fact that SANRAL NEEDS to get people signed up to their terms and conditions pronto.

If SANRAL gets their wish and everyone signs up to Etolls, you can say goodbye to your little "capped" account of R225.00.
 
I don't agree with the concept of urban road tolling.
But I also do not agree with the idea to break the Law ...
So, having decided NOT to get an e-tag, it then goes hand in hand with NOT using the affected roads until this whole mess is sorted out .....

Simple really....
