Hey all,

I live in/around Cape Town. Recently moved from town to Durbanville. Snowball is coming around to do a site survey and possible installation. I'm slightly skeptical because it took quite a lot of effort for me to arrange a survey/installation to be done.

If you've used Snowball, what's your experience been like?

SUPER Great! they are not unresponsive. i had 2 Mb/s Wireless with them uncapped. it was great. they use NEOTEL backbone so its even better to be with them

Okay, so here's what I have so far after 2 weeks of Snowball:

Pros:
- Installation was smooth without hickups.
- Extremely well priced for the installation cost.
- Support over the phone is pretty good
- Line speed is excellent between 9pm and about 7am (4Mb/s wireless downloads at around 500KB/s)

Cons:
- During the day, my line speed runs at about 10%, sometimes even worse, of what it actually should (4Mb/s wireless downloads at around 60KB/s)
- Online ticketing system, I created a ticket on the 9th of December. Up until now, I have had no response on that ticket.

Would I recommend them? I don't know yet. If the Wireless speed isn't sorted out over the coming days I'll definitely provide more feedback on that.

Some feedback....

So for the past two weeks my connection has been flawless. Since yesterday, my connection is back to square one. I haven't heard from the engineers or support since the 20th of December.

I'll be cancelling my account with Snowball and moving on to Sonic Wireless.

Snowball - see all your bandwidth melt away :p

I see what you did there. Lol! Well, I've moved forward with the cancellation and will be looking for an alternative company, Sonic Wireless is looking pretty good.
