Anyone using www.playon.tv?

Anyone here that is using PlayOn been able to get "Redbox Instant" to work? Was hoping this would work - but I get an error message saying "not available in your region/country"

I think it wants you to link to a cable company or something.

Otherwise pretty much impressed with the rest of PlayOn TV. And streaming pretty well through my Roku 3 as well. ;)

Will try out the PlayLater this week. Want to see what quality the recorded shows are like. . . .

Hi Mike,
I got Hulu (Native) working on Xbox. I had to go to settings, Locale and time, Change to US then it worked. Stoked.
I then bought the $59.99 Playon and Playlater services and recorded a show and watched it on Xbox. So I can download series for my girlfriend to watch while I play online. I haven't checked my pings on FPS while she streams a recorded show from my PC but I suspect it will be okay. Also Netflix and Hulu works through Playon on the Xbox.
Really happy wiht my setup now. Just super keen to get a Roku 3 soon :)

*Off to read threads on Roku 3 and Postbox courier*

Thanks dude. Will try that. I thought it would be enough to move my XBL account back to USA.
PlayOn streaming works well on Xbox so happy with that.

Roku 3 should be here any day now. Already put the Roku 2 on the bedroom TV in anticipation of the Roku 3 arriving for the game/HT room :D

I am finding the quality of the recorded shows to be very good. Not tested a lot, but the few episodes of Modern Family I recorded seem to be hundreds.

Would be nice to be able to select shows that Playlater monitors and automatically downloads new episodes. That would be cherry on the top.

Yeah. I also had to move my XBL account region initially but that setting definitely worked for me.

Yeah I'm very happy with playon and a few extra channels is a bonus.

I tried gaming in the pc while the Xbox played a recorded show and my ping wasn't affected. Very happy to be able to play while the girlfriend watches series.

Just to confirm the Roku can play playon recorded shows hey Mike?

If you select PlayOn on the Roku under "My Channels", toward the back of all the programs there is an option to play Playlater recorded content. Haven't tried it yet - just remember seeing it there. . . .

Thanks Tango,
I am well impressed with Playon and Playlater. Will be ordering the Roku soon.

Still not gotten around to testing play back of PlayLater recorded shows. Our clan entered the MWeb Black Ops 2 tourney and free time consumed by practice or playing matches. I played my last game last night (rotating players) so will test this weekend (tonight).

Was not actually sure how to access the recordings...

... Until I saw this. Thanks dude

Roku rocks dude. Been told the Roku 3 arrives either today or tomorrow. Can't wait.

Spent a fair amount of time testing tonight and very impressed. Testing with the PlayOn client on the Roku.

Almost all channels streamed with no issue. History, Discovery, Netflix, etc... Got a k@k load of content to consume now :D

I have not spent too much time investigating how much content is on each of these channels but will do that soon.

Hi there Mike,

Did you get "Redbox Instant" to work yet?? I'm not having any luck with that one yet. The rest seem to be working well though. I added the CW channel from the "channel store".

As you say - a K@K load of content to watch now. . . .

No dude. I verified my UnoTelly settings and cannot even get to RedBox via their web page. Just tells me it is not available in my location.
Is this the same issue you are having?

Mike, I think it's time for you to open a consulting business on home entertainment. From glancing over your threads past it seems you've pretty much played with every piece of tech there is :D

At the least I think MBB should give you some sort of tech slut award. Taking one for the team over and over again :p

When you record to your pc, do you just choose where you want the files to be saved? The reason im asking is that i want to try this but record straight to my Qnap NAS, and stream from there over my wifi to my tablet/xbox

Thanks

Lol. I like that title :D

Ye dude. You can specify the record location. Not checked the format though. Will do that when I get back from the bank.

EDIT: Format is stock standard .mp4. So sorted.

Do you have to pay for the other channels?
Whats the costs like?

The only one I am paying for so far is Netflix. I use Hulu mainly during the day while coding and I tolerate the adverts and watch the free content. I am going to buy a voucher though for a years subscription.
History and Discovery just worked. My son was watching some Disney last night but did not spend enough time in it to see if ALL content is available. I watched a few shows on History and Discovery and that was hundreds.

When I had DSTV we mainly lived on the History channel, so this solution is keeping wifey happy :)

What other channels are available?
I currently have Netflix and Hulu.

Yes it is. Haven't tried a VPN yet though - not sure if it would make any difference, except for being much slower. Also tried to get onto their website but had no success.

From what I have read on Google, folks haven't been too happy. Seems that most are saying that Netflix is still tops.

I would have liked to have made my own decision - but that seems like it's never going to happen.
