Anyone with King Price ?

Or just use a broker...

Or that, yes.

And the broker is in cahoots with certain insurers (incentives, better commission rates, etc) and refers one insurer over the other, regardless if it meets your needs or not. It happens.

Having gone broker and no broker route over the last few years, I don't deny the benefits of having a broker, the problem is finding a decent and trustworthy one to actually benefit from. Even when you have a good one, keep an eye on them.

how long did you wait, and did they try anything underhanded to deny your claim?
Nope. Actually pretty uneventful. I have had the power in my area go haywire and blow my electronics as well as my windscreen damaged and beyond the crappy battery charger I got as a replacement everything ran pretty smoothly.

Recently claimed from them. Paid R55000 for repairs for a car which had some damage.

This is regulated and has to be declared and detailed on the policy. If you can't read then be it on your head.
Basically:-
Fire and allied covers commission 20%
Motor 12.5%

Yes there are brokers with ridiculous fees but these are up to you to accept or decline.

Sooo saw this thread..

I'm with them ,good quote and all so decided sure lets go with them...never claimed in my life!

2 weeks ago computer dies after a power dip(the next day it didn't come on) So took it to a local store, some reason the junior techy did the report and stated that my computer died probably from age :/ ...so obvious get turned down on the claim for a new computer(got the no within a hour) So not happy with this outcome i go back and request a junior to do my report rather as i know it was not age but electricity , and boom! second report came back as power surge fried 2-3 components ..So send this to them ,nope i can't ,need to send it to their ombudsman,2 weeks later and i am still waiting on any news. This is after the collected the computer last week to send to ITSure (they claimed power surge as well)... This is actually bad cause i game and bring work home which i can't do at all!

My argument is, if i'm struggling to claim a computer...how am i going to struggle when claiming for burnt house or car accident ?

So i'm waiting patiently to hear what they have to say,if no then goodbye kingprice!

This is bolox as there is only one Ombudsman and they are name dropping in order to scare claims away.

Why'd you submit a claim with old age on as reason, now they need to clear the declined claim out of their system before they can proceed.

Crash claimed rejected on a technicality - what now?

I bought an Audi 2012 A8 3.0 TDI for R553 000 from a dealership in Durban. I took out insurance with King Price telephonically before taking delivery of the vehicle. All the necessary checks were done at the dealership before the car was delivered to my house.
On 6 May the car, which was being driven by my cousin at the time, was involved in an accident. That same day, I took my cousin to Durban Central, where we filled in an accident report and filed a claim with King Price. An investigator was assigned to my case. There were a lot questions to be answered by my cousin and his family, who were in the car with him.

That I could understand, but the investigator also went to my neighbours, asking them questions about me without my permission. Then they needed to confirm who was driving with the ambulance driver, who was on leave, so they had to wait for his return. Upon confirming that, they said they also needed telephone records of the driver and his wife to prove they were at the scene. Then they wanted another document from Vodacom.

And, on 17 August, I got an e-mail rejecting the claim because the vehicle did not have an inspection done. Please help, I’m feeling so disheartened.

Georgie: If all the necessary checks were done, I suggest approaching the Short-Term Insurance Ombudsman - www.osti.co.za. Insurers are entitled to seek cellphone records, speak to witnesses and the like, but the inspection seems to be a technicality.

This is what happens if you take cheap insurance tbh.

It's a numbers game. For you to pay cheap premiums claims need to be rejected to make the book balance. Normally these cheap companies does all they can to reject your claim with investigators and what not. Best is to go with the tried and tested insurance companies who don't try and offer you the lowest possible premium. But people just don't ever learn :o
