Anyone with King Price ?

Tbh i had endless *** with miway when i wrote of my car

That be crunch time, as one insurer likes to call it. Without knowing the circumstances, it's when you get the bigger claims that the true test of the insurance company comes. Haggle or honour a legitimate claim.

I just checked a quote on their website - R1000 more expensive than my current premium!

Cars licence disk expired 2 days after the accident and they only saw it a few days later, declaring my car unroadworthy

If our licensing authorities checked vehicles' condition before renewal of the licence that would be a different story, but the fact that it is simply a transaction of paper exchanged for money means that the licence has nothing to do with roadworthiness. Unless your vehicle was actually not roadworthy, the licence issue isn't material to the accident. The short term insurance ombud would have a field day with the insurance company.

Dealing direct has some advantages (none that I have personally experienced yet), but I think disadvantages outway the advantages. Too many rumours for me about some direct insurers incentivising their claims staff to haggle at claim time, for me to take a chance.

My friend is insured with them , he is happy and he said they will decrease his premium every year. But checking on Hellopeter i would think twice before making a quote with them.

Same thing happened to me, however, they were not forceful or trying to sell the policy, he was asking if he could help and I did need help. They came in almost half the price of my current insurer (First for Women) and Outsurance charged me like double with a hell of an excess, and even refused to reduce the premium and said I had to sign up first before they can give any discounts. King Price really delivered great service. I am sad to go from First for Women, as I have received fantastic service, but, money talks.

Sure, sorry I forgot to mention their name.

I'm with MiWay. I have been with them for 4 years now. I have never had an issue when it comes to claims. Each year I call other insurance compaines to get new quotes - Miway always comes to the party and matches / beats the quotes and lowers my premiums.

Also, they pay money back to you, regardless if you claim or not. Lastly, they dont ask you to sign a 3 year contract for a tracker!

Signed up with KP, fully covered, at R350 cheaper than Discovery, and they never mentioned a tracking device, or any contract.

Ok Im skeptical as hell. I mean really? Cheap insurance? Premiums that decrease? Which sounds right since your car value decreases pretty much per second. Could this be smart business and not just blatant screwing you over. Could a company actually respect me as a human being and not just cash cow? But I digress. I think Im so use to paying for some board members or bankers 3rd Clifton beach house that I cant comprehend a company offering value added service.

I will give these guys a try. I checked on HelloPeter and for a website created for complaints there are very few and the responses are personal and dealt with efficiently. (I like that Natalie lady.) Most people on here dont actually have any bad experiences with them, just speculation.

Just and idea of the savings.
Current premiums and they WILL go up. Offered by King premium and the WILL go down.
R444.82 R248.37
I get a bonus out in 2 years time if I dont claim. No bonus
R2134.82 R0.00

I save R196.45 every month thats if my current premiums stay the same and Kings stay the same. (unlikely)
Over 2 years = 14 months

R4714.80 - R2134.82 (Bonus)

= R2579.98

I know its not a huge saving, but I think my inner Robin Hood is pushing me towards this King thing. Not having the threaten my insurance company ever few months to get my premiums decreased while they increase them every year anyway is a huge selling point. Not feeling like Im being screwed over is also helping.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but has anyone had any further dealings with Kings Price after these 4 months?

I am thinking of going with them as they are definitely the cheapest I can find.

Well like I said I refuse to deal with them as they're forcing me into a three year contract for a tracker.

The question you should ask is has anyone submitted a claim and what was the experience like?

That's normal for a car over R250 000.

Also it makes sense as it mitigates their risk. So you can decide what you want. Brilliance of a free market.

Well my car is worth maybe 50k... So yeah I don't see the point.

Actually never mind KP. I see Oakhurst insurance is much cheaper will give them a look.

Thanks!

EDIT: I see Oakhurst want to install a tracker thing to monitor driving. Will ask about this in the Oakhurst thread.

Then if they see you are speeding they will refuse to pay your claim.

Good luck with that.

Recently had an accident. Was quoted R27k, and KP processed everything quickly and efficiently. My only gripe is that they wouldn't extend the use of the rental car past 30 days (which was an issue as I only got my car back 2 months after the accident).

I am very happy with KP. My premiums decrease on a regular basis. Signing up was a pleasure, and I their quote were much cheaper than the other companies. I can recommend them for sure. I am a tough one when it comes to service and price, so trust me on this one :)

And this is where having a decent broker comes into play.

My cousin had a similar issue awhile ago and the repair took longer than 30days. They took the rental car back and the panel beater delivered a courtesy vehicle the same day, because the delay was entirely the panel beaters fault so they had to come to the party to continue getting business from the insurance company and broker.
