:) it was me who mentioned it.

GougedEye, sure that will happen, but currently its a bit cap heavy :/

Its a new game, a few days old. There are likely to be patches everyday

Funcom appear to be working on the bugs pretty fast :)

You missed 2 or so. There was definitely another 5MB >> 100MB one on the 27th or so.

So yea, i believe there was a patch every working day since launch.

At least the "content" patches are becoming smaller. That 5Mb one is prolly the game client.
Loving this game so far, so much better than the other MMOGs I've tried before. Now if only they would open the buddy keys so I can invite my buddy to try it out.

thnx - thats because i didn't go to bed.... conan ;)

I'm loving all the patches - really shows the devs are aware of the need to get this game as perfect as possible, as quickly as possible. Not sure why a new 5MB patcher is required for each new patch - that seems a bit wasteful to me.

This patching has however shown me how awesome the patching/update system on Guildwars is. I don't think any game quite matches their update system.

true, i'm sure a general tune-up is in the works as well - or hope so

Well AoC is definitely using some elements of the GuildWars way. Watch carefully when you zone. There's a little thin yellow bar on top of the red loading bar...i've found that is actually updating the zone content [as in downloading updates] . This is probably what you will see when you zone into a Guild city, it will first have to download the player created content in it.

What guildwars did well was only downloading content related to you, you won't get an update of some lvl 80 area when you're lvl 10. However, i remember guildwars at launch, it was same deal to get going. The first "hub" or city you go into it was like 200Mb download...and that was after you actually created your character . I had a pet peeve with the GW system because every new area would be a 10-20MB download -right there- , so now you're in a group and you zone, everyone else was there before so they got the update...here you come..updating 1%....2% ....and eventually you're kicked out of the group for taking too long.

(*i left out the reminders)

I bought the game 2 days ago, its brilliant, took me 20 mins to patch, which sucked.
*4mb*

:P

Is there a backup option like in HL2 that u dont have to d/l all the patches again? Gonna wait on this game untill the dvd's come with the biggest patches allready on the disc.

why i would say, wow has perfect patch system, 1 file and its over - which also can be uploaded and downloaded.....

that will come once the major bugs are fixed...they did that when wow 1st launched aswell

i see, just google "world of warcraft woes" and see what pops up, one tend to benchmark wow against aoc as we saw it when it came to RSA excluding the actual launch weeks of wow.

Dev's said be tuning patching downwards once most issues are gone at least :)
