Apartheid responsible for Xenophobia

Sorry on my phone now, but go to wikipedia and search shaka zulu, mfecene(sorry spelling?) and rwanda.

I did the zulu history in grade 5, but only took an interest in it again a few years back while at university.

Prior to shaka, african conflicts was rather "peaceful" with the tribes rather intimidating each other with the sizes of their armies. Shaka revolutionized the zulu fighting style, so to say its always been like this is false. Shaka saw the power of this european tribe but thought he could build a stronger zulu tribe. He then conquered the other smaller tribes for the previous reason aswell as the fight for ground became more intense. The tribes grew because of the introduction of some european vegtables etc.

As for the hutu thing, they are actually from the same race, but the european rulers declaring one group superior to the other based on their looks. When the europeans left, they left a smaller privaledged group and a larger disadvantaged group. (Sounds fimiliar?). To "solve" the the equality problem, they just took out the the minority to make every one equal.

And the rest is history. Africa as a continent were more peaceful, that's why they are technologically behind the other continents in my opinion - conflict forces progress.

Now my opinion on the topic - apartheid almost always plays a part in things that happen in south africa, but to say it played a bigger part than the incompetance of the government is going to far (I didn't read the article so I don't know that is what they claimed). Apartheid will always be a secondary etc. reason and can't be seen as a primary reason anymore.

Dude, you seriously need a history lesson. The WHOLE of Africa has been plagued by tribal conflict, since time began and to insinuate that only in S.A. was it because of Apartheid is ****ing nuts. Apartheid will ALWAYS be a secondary reason as long as the ANC mofo's are in charge, it makes life very fooking easy for them.

If they had actually really honestly had the best interests of ALL South Africans at heart you lot would be living in a much better country. They've had 15 years, it's now the turn for someone else, unfortunately the next ruling party won't have 15 years, because the "people" are growing impatient. The sooner all law abiding, civilized, tax paying South Africans realise this and do something about it, the better...

I wish people should learn from there mistakes forget the past forgive and forget, burry it and move on...
Focus on the future and making it a better place for all peoples.

Lotsa Love

I know that there was tribal wars, and I never intended to portray that it is only violent in south africa because of apartheid. I also think that the anc government will also rule for atleast another 9-10 years, this term and the next because south africans still tend to vote along racial lines. If the western cape is run well, other cities might vote against the anc in the next election, but I think its to soon to call now.

Zana, I also believe we should forgive and move on, but to forget and bury it is also not good. We should just stop shifting the blame to things that happened in the past and be held accountable for our own wrong doings.

I'm with you zana, let's make it a better place.

Apartheid's fault??? Again?? Im seriously over SA. We getting out as you speak. Long live the Cape Republic!

It won't happen.
Independence for the Cape would not be allowed.
You will have to be prepared to go to war for independence.
Also, as i told you before, prepare yourself for the NIA guys.
By now i think they are really interested in you.

Now lets face the truth here, if we still had apartheid:
Imagine our crime stats, it would be much better than now
Hospitals would have been in a better state
Schools would be better
ESKOM - need I say more
I think everything would have been better
Even the exchange rates would have been better

alles is apartheid se skuld, julle is 100% reg.
You forgot to add for 10% of the population at the end of your so-called "truth" statements.

To be honest I don't think that will happen. If it does it will open a whole can of worms and the ANC won't have the balls to carry it through. There might be some violence yes maybe. If full on war happens it will very quickly become a race war and that's counter-productive for both sides.

I would say Apartheid took black peoples racism against other tribes and played them against each other.

Blacks were killing each other long before the white man arrived. Just like every other 'race' kills each other. The whole concept that the blacks' sense of 'brotherhood' was destroyed by apartheid is utter carp!

And I'm guessing larrychang (if he's asian, unless I'm thinking of someone else) is one of those 'non-blacks' who thinks they're black. Shame :o
