Apexeon "Open Access?"

Hi,

So our complex recently decided to go with Apexeon Connect for a Fibre solution they are claiming that they are "open" to any ISP 30/45 days after installation as Vodacom is the main provider now..or that is how i am made to understand it so far only Ruby Estate has an active connection with them and as far as i am aware they are locked to Vodacom only so hopefully someone more knowledge can help me out? how can these guys claim to be open to anyone? @PBCool did try contact them but did not get any response so not sure if someone on MyBB might know whom they deal with?

On the contract my complex signed it also states open access but not sure if i am allowed to post the part of it that was shared to me? has anyone dealt with this company before? if so how was the experience? are they open? if so why does no ISP that i know of offer packages?

Weird that you can't hit a website for them with a simple google. Only nothing to be found or that helopeter thing, and a thread here for burgundy estate.

Hence why are asking here too...mailed them 3 weeks ago have not even gotten a response and the website is offline..most of the time nothing useful on it!

Good Luck with the lot. Apexeon lied to us.

Vodacom has told our complex they will consider Open Access next year.

Weird, being in the industry as an open access provider, I know all the players, and this is the first I've heard of these guys.

Great! thanks for the feedback have mailed a URL to this thread to your Management Group/Body Corp to take to heart as they have been told 30/45 Days "Vodacom" then Open to everyone and i cannot wrap my head around as to how they would do that if no ISP even has heard of said company? and i know Vodacom is not planning to go Open any time in the future!

Anyone heard of Lighttree? Another estate fibre company. They never seem to reply to emails as well.

Good luck guys be glad you don't have Aeonova360 (A360). They install a GPON fibre with 1 olt card to supply an estate and make the offerings cheap so everyone jumps on it. The network gets congested and guess what calls get dropped no replies to SMS or emails.

No one to contact except for the sales guy that got you into this mess and he does not reply at all. When he finally got back to me 1 week later saying they are aware of the congestion and is fixing it but I can still only see 1 OLT card in the room next to the security boom gates. They only know how to spew lies.

These fly by night fibre companies seem like they are spreading.

1. Lack of a proper website
2. No support email or contact number
3. They don't return calls
4. Claim open access when they are not
5. No one knows about them until they get exclusivity to install in a complex or estate.....

Our estate is about to complete FTTH with Apexeon.

It appears that they are solely partnered with Vodacom (and there's a lot of pressure to sign up with Vodacom ASAP) and even though they say that they are an "open access" network I've contacted a lot of the other providers and they all know nothing about Apexeon and can't help me.

I did get an email from Apexeon a while back where they said:


Our network install is Open Access spec, and will be able to be utilised by any provider.

As soon as the install is done and live, the other providers will contact Vodacom and start onboarding.


However this thread (and the hellopeter) are making me worry that Vodacom will be my only option.....that's the last thing I want!

That will most likely be the case. With us they promised open access. Still nothing. They also promised to connect to the actual fiber outside the complex, but we are still on microwave.

I am generally happy with them, but other people in our complex with higher end packages are struggling to get proper speeds without any assistance from Vodacom.

I did see a mention about microwave in the latest update but was unsure what that meant:

Microwave dish has been installed and will beam off Millpark

Nokia to walk through for final sign off with the next week.

Your comment suggests that we’re, therefore, not getting full fibre access

Yup. The microwave is carrier grade and not really affected by the weather.

Ping to Cape Town is about 2-4ms. To EU is about 120ish.

Vodacom has been promising many an estate / development Open Access as part of their contracts - this extends as far back as contracts signed 3 years ago with some of the larger Estates in Gauteng. Vodacom has no intention of opening up their networks, so you are stuck.

Resellers of Vodacom are being paid a pretty penny to promise all sorts and not deliver.
