Apple adds 'Pro' features to iPadOS for better multitasking

"windows" and "Find-and-Replace" - that's like peak windows 95 features right there

Apple stop sandbagging your iPads and merge your iPad and MacBook product lines like everyone has been asking for the last 5-7 years.

Why would Apple do that when they can sell different devices for different needs and duplicate sales. Its like asking BMW to stop making 3 series and 5 series and only sell a 4 series

There is a nuanced difference though.

It would be more accurate to say if BMW's 3 series did not have a boot, or back seats and that the 5 series only comes with a 1.6l engine.

The one lacks significant utility while the other lacks performance, for the sole purpose having people buy both (some people do), or live with the compromises (what most people do).

What people really want is a Macbook with touchscreen or iPad with a combined OS.

Then they can select between a media consumption/creation focused device (iPad) or a productivity focused device (Macbook), while not having to compromise in cases where you occasionally need to do the other. i.e have a more sporty 3 series, or a more practical 5 series.

Apart from maybe 0.2mm of thickness, there is almost no practical downside to adding a touchscreen to a mac.

Everyone? Everyone?

Absolutely no one.

The one thing everyone else has gotten wrong is trying to merge things into a hybrid experience that doesn’t belong and ****s up both sides in the process.

The only thing that would would is an iPad that can switch entirely to MacOS when docked, not a hybrid in between tries to do both things badly device.

I've seen many pros on YouTube saying they'd switch if the iPad had Final Cut pro.
