Actually in that case it was, they came under heavy fire from mac users for taking so long to fix a security flaw in Java. Apple's not perfect, just damn close. (but still better than MS)

Now that is most ridiculous thing you have ever said aqua. How can you say it does not need a virus scanner when apple says it is recommended?

You are telling us that the makers of an OS recommend it but it does not need one. Amazing dude.

Have any of the mac owners here ever had a virus?
I haven't had one in all my years of mac use, since system 7.
 
Never had a virus, did have a windows virus that wanted to stay on a memory stick once but I sorted it out with rm -rf.
 
Unfortunately I've had disastrous windows virus problems, but I blame myself for not having antivirus.
After I got zonealarm all was well
 
Yeah, the DNS changer issue was fixed with sec update released yesterday.

They should have a competition to see how long it takes to find and install hardware drivers.
I'm sure Linux will be bulletproof on that one too.
 
I'm reading thru that securemac website.
The following applies to put yourself on a high risk category for viruses:

1. You are installing cracked software
2. You are browsing porn website's that want you to install software

This is classic examples of High Risk behavior. Having unprotected sex also puts you in line to get VD or AIDS but not everybody does it. Only idiots do.
 
Cracked software? Damn i have so much cracked software on my system and not a single virus, guess you need the good stuff.

If you go screw a hooker you may well get aids but if you screw a chick you meet in a bar there is less risk :D

Nice red herring logical fallacy but I`ll bite.

Fact: Linux comes by default with more hardware driver support in its kernel than any other OS.

More than MS and certainly more than OSX.

Personally on all the workstations and servers I have installed in the last two years.. only the Nvidia drivers were needed. Everything just worked for me. Bonus is.. I dont have to use over priced hardware that Apple supplies!

You are suggesting that OSX came 3rd out of Vista and Linux based OSes.

Then you conclude, after all logically that's what's implied-- that the reason you think OSX is so hacker-weak is because it is CLOSED SOURCE, yet
as explained by me (and it seems I must use baby words) Windows Vista is the most closed source OS of the 3 - with parts of OSX being OSS too. If your conclusion were to have merit - Vista would blow more than OSX in these hacker comps.
