Apple begins beta testing new iPhone Stolen Device Protection

think Ive explained my Hatred to death at this point, but maybe you didn't read it.

fair point, have owned or got given a Ipad air 2, Iphone 12 and my glorified hotspot Iphone 6s
never brought any Apple products in the past, never had much of an opinion until I got given a 6 and then upgraded it to a 12
coming from android exclusively, never had a macbook or Ipod even.

and my first thought on using it was what a load of garbage, honestly!
why would anybody pay money for this trash is beyond me, why would you purposefully buy this when so much better alternatives exist?

its kind of like the opinions some people have coming from a S-Class/Fortuner to a Citi golf as a rental,
so even with an extended time with one of their idiotphones, like the 6s I have right now,

still dont see the appeal, even my Samsung S4 mini is 1000% better than this, even my S7 is better than this.

this that people love them and defend them constantly baffles me, why would people do that?
Do you mean exactly what you're doing for Android? Is the irony lost on you?

After being an android fan boy for most of my life, I will never touch that ecosystem again.

They have one of the strongest marketing teams in the world that target emotions and psycology of users. They train their user base on what they want and don't want - and it's really a brilliant concept that I don't think any other brands have mastered. Did you know that for Apple fans, the brand triggers a reaction in the brain that's not unlike that of religious devotees? They ran an MRI on a fans brain and it lit up parts of the brain that are usually associated with religion.

I guess the weaker your mind, the more the marketing would 'catch' you ... but at the end of the day, it's brilliant

Apple fanbois got to Flame me with their Garbage products (Steve jobs demands it!!!!)

I was introduced to Apple totally by accident, got given one at one of my workplaces
and on using it immediately hated everything about it, and this is from coming as a blank slate completely.

never even owned an Ipod or mac PC or anything Apple,

for me to develop such a hatred, even on using it for an extended period of time, and still hate it almost as much
as when I first used one, is remarkable, and I OWN one now even, a 6s and use it as a glorified hotspot all of the time.

so yes, dont like Apple, never liked Apple and never will like Apple as long as I breathe air on this earth.

that's the bit that scares me, this cult like devotion you speak of has the opposite effect on me.
makes me more repulsed and more angry when I see them, and plenty other products like Samsung or LG have tried this,

even oneplus or Google try this and fail, but Apple does this because their devices are build with less features and more expensive and restrictive policies.
hence Cult of the idiotphone,

I don't have a hatred of the brand - but I'm less affected by their marketing and some people hate that . I don't have this desire to defend everything they do

Really... Is that why reverse engineered access to iMessage became the fastest growing paid app launch in Android history?

You weak Android minds. You'll pay a monthly subscription for blue bubbles just to be part of the crowd and then have the audacity to talk about emotions and psychology.

Geez

@Jet-Fighter7700 and they get angry .... like this guy.

What is happening in this case is that he's fallen for the marketing ... yet but he doesn't want to believe it that he's 'weak' . So he displays anger rather
noticed this as well, kind of sad really,
Apples marketing is genius, they single handedly made it a brand to aspire to , to covet and to brag about,
even when credible alternatives exist, they simply wont look at it, it gives me Nazi vibes honestly.

maybe this is what Tesla owners, and Nike worshipers are like as well, cant look elsewhere, even when plenty of alternatives exist.
interesting that people are so easily led, and why some people refuse to be so easily led.

is this what terrorist recruitment is like? is this why people are willing to strap bombs to themselves?

Apple users are not going out of their way to install and subscribe to hacked up Android services and plastering forums with posts of admitted hatred for electronic devices. Yet we're to believe we're the weak-minded...

You carry on though. It's entertaining AF.

Ok @Hush9300

You've got your own mind & thoughts :) I'm sorry I said that Apple marketing works on you ...

Hoping you feel a bit better?

Honestly, I mostly enjoy the convenience of iDevices, and still stick to using the rights tools for the right jobs.

If I was myself from 15 years ago, Android would still be my go to because it will probably take another 50 years for Apple to catch up on notification handling, power features and customization aspects, some better and worse, and I really enjoyed tinkering every little aspect of my early devices.

These days, I don't really want anything bloated and in my way and don't enjoy how limited -- and by extension -- harder the scene has become if you don't parallel import Google Pixels and the like (which also destroys financial motives).

Simple things like assured full and encrypted device backups and 100% working Pay put me at ease more than anything, and a guarantee of feature sets worldwide with iPhones which you rarely see with Pixel and Samsung drops usually delegated to the U.S. market only. Admittedly, my use case of a phone has declined slowly, and I don't enjoy paying for the tremendous power and cameras they harness which barely get a use out of me, but I budget it for 8-9 years over their long support, which I also enjoy. Huge kudos to other OEMs for picking up the slack as well on that!

You can definitely take this with a grain of salt but this is my anecdotal experience and I believe it's true in the opposite ways. I don't really swear by sides as they're all just vying for our money and data anyway :sneaky:

Apple has plenty of avid customers (fanbois as some call them) who'll buy every product Apple release but that doesn't account for the volumes they're selling. People are buying into their ecosystem because it just works and does so with very little frustration out of the box. You're welcome to suggest an alternative ecosystem that does as good of a job that matches Apple like for like?

I've had both for extended periods and the verdict from my side is...
I'm find with either. Apple for fewer distractions and less fiddling, but don't expect to connect x to y or do fancy stuff on a home LAN.
Android can do more in many cases but OS updates are a royal pain. There's also more value for money in a brand like Samsung than there is with Apple at the mid range.

I think the Huawei ecosystem is pretty good?

Been there. Matebooks perhaps could've given Apple a run for their money pre-Apple Silicon but no longer. The integration for things like answering calls between devices was quite frustrating. This was a couple years ago so perhaps it's improved. Tell me, if you have a Huawei watch, laptop, ipad and phone can the phone be answered on any of the devices as long as they're on the same network out of the box?
