Apple device for development

How does Parallels and BootCamp work performance wise when the Windows VM is for dev

For VM's you'll want as much memory as you can get...therefore an Air will not be the right answer.

It would be fine for GFX design stuff (Photoshop etc) as those don't really require 3D rendering capability, but for the same money I would still say the more practical Macbook Pro makes a lot more sense.

Personally I would say the (new) Air is the best choice.

The primary reason would be because Apple have not announced a Haswell refresh for the Pro (non-Retina). For me it would be silly to spend (big) money now on a notebook that isnt Haswell based.

The updated Haswell HD 5000 GPU seems decent enough and the Air's display actually has a slightly higher resolution than the std Pro. An 8GB model is also available if you need to run VMs.

Check this review on the new Haswell i7 Air (this tannie usually does unbiased/level-headed reviews) ...

Yeah an 8GB model should do the job.

Didn't realise they haven't updated the rest of them but come to think of it there was no announcement for it so it makes sense.
