Apple Event 7 September

This actually isn’t bad considering the always-on display.
Indeed! I think the 4nm A16 and screen capable of going down to 1Hz helps big time. I like how they have waited to implement AOD when the harder is now ready for it.

On my previous phones with AOD I would typically keep it on for a few weeks or months and turn it off as it would usually begin to noticeably eat into the battery life, I think with the screen going down to 1Hz here, this should not even be an issue.

Do you not know the basics of marketing and up selling a product?

If you add the A16 to the base models less people will buy the Pro model because they "need" that A16
I prefer the reason based on the shortage of chips due to tightened supply of semiconductors and it’s more than sufficient
If it was up for discussion and a choice had to be made, it’s the best most viable option

You can prefer that reason, I'm sure it's the official reason, but that's just not how it works.

I dunno hey, I've got the current AirPods Pro and they're great and all, but they're no match for a proper headset from JBL/Sony/Bose often selling for €100/30% less than these puppies will.

And I'm not sure it's worth the upgrade from the current gen.

It is worth it for my use case - mostly used for Teams calls and the Airpods allow me to seamlessly switch between Teams on the Macbook, iPhone and iPad / it allows me incredible freedom of movement.

I use 1 pod at a time 90 percent of the time to ensure that I get full day coverage (including evening usage).

That means that I have to have pods that are fully functional* independent of each other (not sure if this applies to the ones you mentioned) - one of my colleagues has Jabra Pro's that cost the same as the Airpods but only the right one has a mic so he can't use my trick of swapping from one ear to the other.

I also own a pair of noise cancelling cans (Sony XM3's) for listening to music and airplane usage.

I definitely get value for money given my usage pattern. The increased battery life and improved noise cancelling are a big plus for me.

* even the noise cancelling works with either pod in my ear - and it does make a difference.

Whatever works I say. I literally only use my AirPods while commuting to work. Rest of h the time I use my overear JBL's or the on ear Jabras (50 hours battery yo!) if it's too hot.

I get tired of in ear after an hour anyway :p

2. It’s still faster than anything the competition has or will have in the next couple of years

… this is the type of comment that got my expectations up with the A15 and why I expected more

What can I do about that? It’s the objective truth, not my fault if it’s misinterpreted.
