Apple Event - 8th March 2022

M1 Ultra is just Apple taking a dump on all the other chipmakers :D

I'm liking their new products. I have no need for a Mac Studio, but damn that's a sweet piece of kit.

They only miss is not going retro and making it look like the Power Mac G4 Cube at least a little.

Was just thinking the same, there is nothing I do daily that would get close to taking full advantage of that M1 Ultra in the Mac Studio, but absolutely awesome none the less.

I believe Intel were just making a big deal if catching up in terms of power to M1 or M1 Max? And then Apple goes and sticks 2 M1 Max together and boom M1 Ultra  now what!?
Great bit competition going on there.
Exactly! Intel will be right up there with the last-gen products soon! Exciting!

I hope that screen is semi-affordable, I've been aching to replace my Dell 25"

I was hoping for $999 but this is a bit much.

Not to say it’s expensive, considering what it does, but an option without the extras that was just a screen for less money would have been nice.

I agreed for a second...but that Mac Studio looks nice to me.

I just think a more square design would have been even better.

But they probably did this on purpose because now it’s getting talked about and will remain iconic just like the Trashcan/Flowerpot.

Ports galore is great!

They've finally gotten the port selection right. I reckon this will be a seller for them. All the performance you need in a compact form factor.

A fully maxed out Mac Studio is $7,999 though. That's rough. Then again, it's faster than a $50k Mac Pro so........... ouchie I guess.

Mac Studio looks awesome. Biggest surprise for me is the inclusion of M1 in the new iPad Air - the rumours predicted 5G and front camera with centre stage etc but if I recall correctly, M1 was not expected? In any case, my current iPad is starting to show its age so the new Air could be a worthwhile replacement, as iPad Pro pricing is a little over my budget.

I think a bigger deal is that the base price on that M1 Max Studio is the same as the base 14" MBP.

It'll sell a bunch.

Intel stock over the last 24 hours.

Yep, agreed. Good move by Apple.

The screen is overpriced for what it is. It may be amazing, but it’s too much money to ask for a screen in my opinion.

What about battery life? Current one is not good. Not good at all.

A15 is quite efficient. Can’t imagine it has a very big battery though, but then it has a dimmer screen. Probably good for a day.

Lol two of them is the iPhone SE 2020... Things don't last throughout the day.
In the context of Spizz's post, I'm not sure pointing out that some of those phones are *only* two and a bit years-old is quite the dunk you think it is, bsb.

So right at the end they said the "Mac Pro" is being left for another day. Any guesses as to what that might be? Two M1 Ultras on a motherboard then? Supposedly the Studio Ultra is already 80% faster than the previous top end Mac Pro.
