Overall a pretty "meh" display of products, Mac Studio and M1 Ultra aside. The usual "Last year + 10%" type thing. Not a bad thing, but not exciting.

Quite keen to see some real-world reviews and benchmarks and such of the new Studio though. That and the OS updates.

New SE is a bit disappointing. Same thing just faster chip. Thought someone said that the 13 mini will be the last mini, so I thought maybe the SE will replace it in the mini body with a full screen.

Specifically want to get it because same thing, only thing I'd have wanted is a bump in resolution due to some sites misbehaving with the small screen size/resolution. This is an upgrade for my gran once the 6S security updates stop, don't want to give her something completely new to learn again, but might keep it for longer as no more OS changes and just security.

Well it is thunderbolt 4 - you could spend $60-90 on a third party cable of similar length which hopefully is properly certified…

And as @quovadis pointed out, it's a TB4 cable, they really aren't cheap but you're welcome to try the $60 Chinese ones.

The point is, the device should have shipped with a 1.8m or 3m cable.

The 1m cable should not even have been manufactured.

The mac is designed to sit on your table next to the screen, not hidden away like your average PC. 1m is ample.
