iPad Pro 9.7 is also only USB2 speeds for transfer. The USB3 speeds is the big Pro only.
The event was underwhelming, especially their dig at the 5 year old PCs after they said that Apple devices are built to last.
Oh, and a camera bump on the 9.7 Pro? Wonder how you are doing to draw on it when it keeps wobbling all the time - no wonder in the promotion vids everyone was holding it up in their hands. And buying a case to fix this issue is a stupid answer too.

I read an interesting article recently about apple. Their problem currently is that people arent upgrading as quickly as Apple would like too. My mom is still using her Ipad 2 and its working fine for her. And I bought a macbook pro recently (non - retina) as I could upgrade that one myself and the cost was far more reasonable. So between price and its "good enough", how does apple get people to upgrade regularly?
I had a chuckle at the pc comment though, I still dont see the ipad replacing a pc anytime soon.

How is it that the 9.7 iPad Pro is significantly better than its bigger brother in just about every metric that matters? Also, the Mini 4 is the same price as the Air 2...
As for the iPhone SE, smaller but significantly better than the iPhone 6 as well as significantly cheaper...
The line-up is a complete mess at this stage.

Exactly the same pixel density on both counts but the smaller variants will run quite a bit better due to the lower resolutions.
The iPhone 6 is redundant at this stage (quite a bit more expensive than the SE and only marginally cheaper than the 6S but less future proof) while Apple have basically just canabalised the 12.9 inch iPad with the trusted 9.7 inch which now appears to be the flagship model.
Don't get me started on how the Mini 4 and Air 2 can be the same price. Mini 4 should be your entry level product and the Mini 2 should be resigned to the rubbish dump... It doesn't even have Touch ID.
Their line-up at this stage is nothing short of a joke. I can't see how it can be defended.

Every product is quality and has its purpose. Buy what suits your needs (and pocket, though tends to be less of a consideration with Apple products).
This is because Apple is preparing to offer Windows 10 on these devices. Up to 9.7" Windows 10 is free for OEMs and a chosen size is not a coincidence.

TBH I haven't seen many of the larger iPad Pros around, not enough to think cannibalisation. In my mind, more than anything else, Apple is pitting the new iPad Pro up against the Air 2 and a lot of people are going to be tempted to buy the Pro now.

The problem is with every one of these announcements they give me a new feature on the wrong model that I don't want...which means I end up stretching my iPad 2 even further as I'm hopeful the features trickle down the rest.
Like now I want a Mini with the Truetone display and eventually Pen support.

I only know one person with the Pro. I personally wouldn't buy such a massive iPad but want the iPad Pro in a smaller design before I replace my iPad Air, and that's now available.
I think the market for the two devices are very different. Someone who wants a big one will get that, the others will get the new one
So according to tests:
9.7" Pro
- has only 2GB of RAM
- only does USB 2 speeds for transfers
- does not have always on "Hey Siri"
- processor is underclocked
What the hell Apple. Guess the tradition of the first gen of a new product being gimped from the start carries on.

Gimping on RAM for a "Pro" iPad 9.7 inch that also gets a $100 (make that R2000) price increase is nothing short of criminal.
Apple are taking the piss at the moment.
Love them but sometimes the design decisions defy belief.
That and USB 2 ... what were they thinking.
Works out more expensive than an MS Surface Pro 4 ...

The iPhone SE will be a very good option for a lot of people, I have friends who still have iPhone 5's even a friend who still sports a 4s.
By US pricing, the iPhone SE should in theory come in at R7000, iPhone pricing have always been very compeditive because Core doesn't hold the monopoly, the networks like Vodacom also bring them in, so I'm hopeful that it will actually come in at a decent price.
Personally I'll probably still stick with the big models only because Apple's traditional iPhone launch schedule sync up nicely with my contract upgrade cycle, I can usually upgrade in mid November and the new iPhone reaches us around that time.

Had quite a big skrik with my iPad 4 last night. The battery was quite flat think 6% and when I plugged it in to charge nothing happened. I first confirmed that the charger works by plugging in my iPhone but it was fine, then I also tried another charger with another lightning cable but still no joy. I switched off the iPad and then when I plugged in the charger the Apple came up on screen *sigh of relief*, then I switched it on and it was charging just fine.
This must be a bug in the new iOS 9.3 because just 3 or so weeks ago when I also ran down my iPad battery very low like 3%, it charged just fine.
With the amount I'm using my iPad which is not really a lot and Apple product pricing these days, this thing can't give in now, it must still last a few years.

Had same issue with an iPhone 5s just a while ago but it ran out of battery and never turned on again. iStore replaced it though.
